IAF not in favour of acquiring Russian 5th gen jets, keen on DRDO Make in India project instead

really ? Your 'development partner' didn't offer you full ToT ? Now that's sad...

Man, we criticize the Russians, but look at the level of indigenization here...

Presently. HAL is manufacturing the aircraft [Su 30 MKI] from the raw material phase and till date has produced 150 aircraft. HAL has manufactured approximately 43,000 components in airframe and 6,300 components for engines. Twenty six special technologies have also been absorbed and mastered. With this, 70 per cent components are now made in India by HAL with 100 per cent technology absorption as per the contract in airframe and engine.

Presently HAL is making it fully but not when it was inducted during 90s, try to make fool someone who doesn't have knowledge about your military induction and development program.

The time you took to fully make Su-30MKI in-house JFT will take lesser although later is made by weaker economy compared to earlier, also China is always ready to fully transfer tech but it's PAF who face funds issue due to which slow but smooth ToT is achieved.

hahaha! When is India going to develop a jet that it can use for its own defense??

Why exactly is the LCA Tejas not capable of warfighting ? I simply don't see it.

Integrated with HMDS and HOBS missile...

I think Russia is asking too much money.this program is likely to be ended soon.iaf should focus on rafales and for 5th generation jet, buy it from some other country.america might not provide f-35 but with good diplomacy,it might be possible.f-22 is not for sale.only china and Japan are developing 5th generation fighter jets.chinese j-20 might fit the needs of iaf but again relations are not good.

It was inducted in 2002. So much for 'knowledge' about Indian military induction and development program.

And the same is the story with your JF 17.

Meanwhile in India these are the tier 1 suppliers.

HAL has created five “Tier-1” suppliers that each build a part of the Tejas. The front fuselage is supplied by Dynamatic Technologies Ltd, Bengaluru; the centre fuselage by VEM Technologies, Hyderabad; rear fuselage by Alpha Tocol, Bengaluru; wings by Larsen & Toubro, Coimbatore; and the tail fin and rudder by National Aerospace Laboratory and Tata Advanced Materials Ltd.

Heck, that's more than what PAC manufactures for JF 17...

Still those Tier-1 supplier can not provide you goods in required quantity due to which LCA program is dead slow.

Every project is a learning exercise! Or it starts off as a weapons system but then gets converted into a commercial subsidy and a university science fair!

Having a defense industry helps the industry- I don't see the problem with that.

That's why the Indian private aerospace industry can produce 100% of airframe while PAC still can't.

@Basel Well you know we can't even make a data link for our aircraft...meanwhile...

GSAT-7.jpg

During Theater-level Readiness and Operational Exercise (Tropex) in the Bay of Bengal in 2014, GSAT 7 (Rukmini) was able to network about 60 ships and 75 aircraft seamlessly.

Don't mix apples with oranges, Pakistan can also make SATs but economy and priorities don't allow further fast work in that field.

So you still can't make 100% of airframe & want to criticize us ?

:omghaha: :omghaha: :omghaha:

You can't even make a single satellite indigenously. Stop making ridiculous claims.

I m not making ridiculous claim several projects are shelved due to non funding tech and is available but funds are issue.

You know what, India can send a Man to Mars. But the project was shelved due to lack of funding.
