What's new

IAF not in favour of acquiring Russian 5th gen jets, keen on DRDO Make in India project instead

Meanwhile in India these are the tier 1 suppliers.

HAL has created five “Tier-1” suppliers that each build a part of the Tejas. The front fuselage is supplied by Dynamatic Technologies Ltd, Bengaluru; the centre fuselage by VEM Technologies, Hyderabad; rear fuselage by Alpha Tocol, Bengaluru; wings by Larsen & Toubro, Coimbatore; and the tail fin and rudder by National Aerospace Laboratory and Tata Advanced Materials Ltd.

Heck, that's more than what PAC manufactures for JF 17...

And how many Tejas have been inducted to replace the Mig-21 and Mig-27? The IAF still flies those antique planes, while the PAF has inducted more than 90 JF-17 jets. Not just that, but the IAF now has been forced to float a second tender for 200 license built jets worth more than $12 billion because the LCA Tejas continues to remain a paper tiger only.

There is nothing in India of Indian origin everything is ToT fully or partially with knowledge transfer to make it look like indigenous even super Brahmos is not Indigenous.

We call Brahmos a JV.

If India with a much larger Industrial/scientific base can't do anything without ToT, you might not be able to do even a JV.

making it better then LCA MK2 which already have full ToT from different countries

Meh...more BS.

Not just that, but the IAF now has been forced to float a second tender for 200 license built jets worth more than $12 billion

Different things. Only 36 more Rafale would come.

really ? Your 'development partner' didn't offer you full ToT ? Now that's sad...

Man, we criticize the Russians, but look at the level of indigenization here...

Presently. HAL is manufacturing the aircraft [Su 30 MKI] from the raw material phase and till date has produced 150 aircraft. HAL has manufactured approximately 43,000 components in airframe and 6,300 components for engines. Twenty six special technologies have also been absorbed and mastered. With this, 70 per cent components are now made in India by HAL with 100 per cent technology absorption as per the contract in airframe and engine.

And yet the SU-30 fleet is marred by low serviceability because India cannot import the spare parts to keep them flying. I wonder WHAT is it that the India is producing locally if it cannot even maintain the planes! All of these are just false claims by Indians.

The new tender for the single engine jets.

Man, this is so depressing isn't it ? India with all those capability to build a dedicated satellite for the military can't make Data Link system for it's aircraft.

But in Pakistan, a country with 5 certified aerospace vendors, every aerospace poject is 100% indigenous, no questions asked !!!

Your bullshit was answered earlier.

There are contractual obligations about sourcing the spares directly from the OEMs, as a part of the Su 30 MKI deal.

PAF can produce as many JF-17s as they like that the difference

India is already producing Tejas & Su 30 MKI. Your point is ?

And that's why still need JVs...

Of course we prefer JVs. It is better to know one's capabilities and plan accordingly. What was the great benefit of the LCA Tejas? India has spent more than $2 billion on its development, while Pakistan has invested only $250 million. The JF-17 is in service, while the LCA Tejas has been disguised as having been inducted but is only completing testing at the moment. It is the same case with the K-8 Karakoram, which at least has more of our involvement than the license built BAE hawks India has inducted.

@Basel Well you know we can't even make a data link for our aircraft...meanwhile...

GSAT-7.jpg

During Theater-level Readiness and Operational Exercise (Tropex) in the Bay of Bengal in 2014, GSAT 7 (Rukmini) was able to network about 60 ships and 75 aircraft seamlessly.

In other words IAF won't get any 5th generation fighter ever, good for Pakistan

The great benefit of LCA tejas is building an Industry, along with having a 4+ gen aircraft (now inducted and in service). Even for the fuselage...

There are several more examples.

It catches your BULLSHIT about "indigenous" SU-30 production. What is the point of making struff from "scratch" when you can't keep them flying without foreign help.

Really ? How does it disprove anything ?

Su 30 MKI already have an availability rate of 70%

hahaha! When is India going to develop a jet that it can use for its own defense?? Every project is a learning exercise! Or it starts off as a weapons system but then gets converted into a commercial subsidy and a university science fair!

imported SU-30s doesn't count as Self-reliance.

We are not talking about manufacturing only the central fuselage & wings like that of JF17...
