IAF Mirage-2000 Another One That Got Away !

I guess if some people had a brain they would be dangerous, was he an Airchief when he became POW....
What about Brij Pal Singh, who went on to become an Air Marshal of IAF.....the difference is our man went down fighting while Agni Pankh Patil surrendered his perfect working Gnat fighter jet.

I wish they brought one of those Mirages down. Some Indian posters used to rant on about them being unstoppable with the MICA.
The only thing they did that day was keep the runaway warm at Gwalior, after they came in piping hot from running away with their afterburners on full flow.
They shot down the mighty Sukhoi - the Air Superiority jet of of IAF, which has direct implications in the world of AIr Warfare - shooting down a Mirage would just seem an Overkill, i can see why shooting down a Third bird was not authorized

Nothing stopped them on 27th day of February, 2019 except that they had "Radar" issues and return unstoppably.

@Windjammer

It's good that permission wasn't granted saving millions of dollar worth Chinese Bvr missiles from going to waste and very wise humanitarian choice when u think of it as Four American AMRAAM fired at Su30s failed to hit anything except poor Gujjar Muslim man in Jammu's Resai district causing loss of his legs.
I thought little break and a clip around the ears usually brings people into their senses.
It's just as well PAF showed mercy else Modi would have run out of Rafale excuse.
BTW, was this group with such humiliated and defeated faces merely posing to boast TRP ratings for Arnab Gobarswami.

Sinking the intruding submarine wd also have been a great slap on IN. But causalities wd have been great so I think that was the most important factor why PN restrained.
Also, I request members not to forget and mention the bomber, EW, and PN roles/engagement time to time of this episode.

Hain, what a logic ! Yr airforce was there to fight areal battle or playing test cricket that declared the day and came home.

FYI, Sukhoi and Mirages were part separate formations and flying different areas, in fact in different states.

Mirages were already flying CAPs in Northen kashmir when they would have encountered PAF formation.

While Su30 flew from Punjab to Jammu where they countered and faced barrage of AMRAAM albeit none manage to hit them.

So to say PAF thought they shot down two Indian jets and then they hesitated to take down Mirages is simply illogical since PAF formations must encountered Mirages in North kashmir much before Su30s and even Mig21s which came in the end.

We have locked down 8 targets got permission to roast two, you bring all the logic but reality is that you lost two jets and one pilot got arrested and picture above @Windjammer posted shows how badly IAF got hurt....Look at the faces of IAF officers...................

So the only evidence u guys have to back ur fancy stories is ' faces of IAF officers...? You are comedy.

Yes -- you really think there was only one formation of PAF in the air?? you do realize that there was a Strike Package and then there were CAP missions....

it was a mistake, big mistake. no clearance means lack of aggression from pakistani government. it's sad but we might not see same situation again. i mean enemy is already alert now. we can't use same tactic again. it was terrible decision not to give clearance.

First of all, we all need to understand the one logic that Indian logic is miles a part from the rest of the logics or Pakistan logic to the least.

Secondly, for the Mirage-2000 logic, they were in-fact countered by JF-17 Thunders North Package but IAF Mirge-2000 reported Radar issue and returned. IAF is on record for that. So, in view of universal logic, IAF Mirage-2000 left battlefield either due to fear or for their own shortcoming but still, that is being useless in the fight. Did you get the logic of ROEs and not to escalate the matter when the bogey is in hostile territory? Did India try to understand the logic that how not to be proven offender/violator of ROEs? Even if PAF was playing test match; the so-called Raptors should have ruled the skies on that day or afterwards since the shots were fired.

Forget about computer cowboys, it's the IAF which is feeling the pain.
PAF has all Data and details of the kill, the SU-30 was grinding and instead of turning away to complete the other half of the grind he ended up completing the circle and came within the NEZ (No Escape Zone) of the AMRAAM...he was hit head on some 20NM inside IOK.
