71 was the only war that Pakistan lost. But not just Pakistan, any country except maybe US will loose such a war where the mainland is thousands of miles away with enemy territory on all sides including sea, plus a super power is supporting the enemy and the population is pretty much entirely hostile and showing the routes to enemy. Not to mention 34k troops with no supplies vs 1 million approx troops/fighters.

bro, the issue of the "mainland" was the whole problem. You are right, 71 was the only war we lost. the ENTIRE problem was the that east was smaller in land but MUCH bigger population and therefore wanted to be treated as the "mainland" while all the money and beurocractic control was in the much bigger western wing but with a much smaller population compared to the eastern wing. It was a classic disaster where the minority was trying to control the majority and bhutto was the key to initiating that disaster with his "hum idhar tum udhar" bullcrap! had he just suppressed his vadera ego and given mujib the PM ship, Pakistan would've been stil intact today.
