Salam everyone.
I would like to share some pictures I took on my phone (hence bad photo quality! Sorry). These pictures are of the Shiekh Zayed Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi. Sheikh Zayed Mosque is the 8th Largest (I think) Mosque in the world.
The design of the Sheikh Zayed Mosque has been inspired by both Mughal and Moorish mosque architecture, particularly the Badshahi Mosque in Lahore and the Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca being direct influences. The dome layout and floorplan of the mosque was inspired by the Badshahi Mosque and the architecture was inspired by both Mughal and Moorish design. Its archways are quintessentially Moorish and its minarets classically Arab. The design of the Mosque can be best described as a fusion of Arab, Mughal and Moorish architecture. (Wikipedia)
Some of the mosque's domes. Two birds flew in to make the picture even better.
Sunrise on Eid Prayer, I took the picture looking outwards from the mosque.
Yes, these are semi-precious stones inlaid in the marble pillars ^_^
I had to take this picture. It's the design on the interior of one of the domes.
Terrible picture quality... the lighting wasn't even white in reality. Oh well, here is a bit of the interior.
They decorated everything, even the Qur'an racks!
Decorated walls on the interior of the mosque...
A floor pattern between some pillars =u)
