such a shame a country with 60,000+ potential hasnt build a single project since 1970s(last 50 years). we were far poor than..poorer countries today float bonds and easily build them..look at Ethiopia expensive dam on nile for example just by bonds even though they dont have that much demand!! but poor policies lack of any interest from govts of PML N and PPPP in last 3 decades have resulted this

We tried kalabagh but everybody knows how that went down...
its just an excuse..(kalabagh is like a fictional women which is used as an excuse for a gay person not to marry another women)
in 1983-1988..a study was done which identifed 13 sites..with a total of 30 MAF..2 have been finalized akhori and bhasha and akhori is easier to build than kalabagh

AAEAAQAAAAAAAAJRAAAAJGVjZDIxZjkzLTU1MWQtNGNhOS04NzliLTNmMTE3NmI2NDUwYg.jpg

all of the above were part of WAPADA study for low cost quick dams..this list doesnt include projects in GB and upper nothern areas

.
there more than half a dozen sites in nothern areas

For storage, the WAPDA has identified water reservoir sites of about 65 MAF capacities, and other locations with a power potential of 35,000 MW
