Srinagar/New Delhi, Nov 20 (PTI) As he plans to visit China, Hurriyat Conference leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today kicked up a controversy by saying that Beijing has a "direct link" with Kashmir issue, drawing strong objection from the government to his views.

The government asserted there is "no room" for any third country in resolution of the Kashmir issue which is confined to India and Pakistan.

It said it has no objection to Farooq travelling to China or anywhere else but he would be stopped if his visa is stapled on a separate sheet of paper instead of passport.

"China is a global power and has huge influence in the region and as such China also has a direct link with Kashmir because certain parts of Kashmir are in Chinese control which have been given by Pakistan to them - Aksai Chin and those areas," Farooq said in Srinagar.

Our very own Daial Lama?

Now thats the reply to Indian ranting in another thread.

And who cares what Indian Govt says

You did be surprised, the World and the UN actually do!
THE WORLD AND UN !!
Are you sure that's why Obama gave a sign of considering China as their strategic and regional partner rather than India, this shift is very important in global politics.
And while asking China to play a dominating role in Kashmir issue, did they bother about the interests or reactions of their self considered strategic partner India !!! - it was a total WHO CARES attitude

And this is funny whenever India wishes it considers matters as bilateral otherwise it will involve a dozen other countries. But Pakistan has always raised all the issues at international levels apart from a few exceptions, because who cares about others we will do what we are supposed to do in our own interests.

Then why US has to again publicly announce "Relation with China not at the cost of India"

You should be more focus on reality than lip service from US,

The reality is US need China much more than India inorder to deal

with important issues eg. North Korea nuclear problem, Iran's too,

since India international infleunce that will be helpful to US=0.

The most important; US's economy recovery tied deeply with China.

US just simply need China way more than India now, period.

Stop the India vs China right now, before this thread is closed! Of course the world cares what India and China think. Of course the US cares for relations with both countries. Don't be naive. That said, India is a student in a school where China teaches, it's a bit rich to consider the two equals in nearly any department. They both matter, China matters more. Let's stop now.

Back on topic:
Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has every right to travel to China. Spreading awareness of the issue is one way towards a resolution. The only reason the Indian government should be afraid of his traveling destinations is if he plans on mounting violent support, which is unlikely.

Why this news would bother Indians is a mystery to me.
