it is irrelevant how immmature people of the West were when we are talking about how immature people of the East have become right after East and West Pakistan came to being. i think the generation that was involved in politics from 1900s to 1940s did a terrible job in passing down that 'political maturity' to the next generation. besides that, as you wrote in another topic, some leftist commies from calcutta and ones left by the fleeing Hindu 'intelligentsia' came at the forefront of East pakistan politics creating a serious drag on any cohesive political environment between the two wings.

@ The above statement is absolutely correct.

@ Here, I am trying to say that the Muslims of West, East and other parts of India definately struggled for a separate homeland starting from 1900 but the general election of 1937 and 1946 was the referendom for separate Pakistan. Can you tell how many seats Muslim got in these areas. It was during this time the ellite groups of Punjab , NWFP and Sindh were doing Unionist politics instead of Muslim Leaque. Had these politicians had supported Muslim Leaque then the portion of Pakistan could had been much bigger. Here these people proved to be immatured comparing with the East Bengal.

BD has 150 million people and Pakistan has around 180 million.

And BD will rebase it's GDP upwards by at least 15% soon and so the two countries GDP/capita's will be very similar then.

Pakistan GDP/capita is growing around 2% a year while BD is around 5%.

If the current growth rates continue till 2030, then BD will become a much wealthier country than Pakistan.

Bangladesh has 160 millions people while Pak has slightly more than 180 millions people.

Pak's GDP growth rate in 2012 was 3.7% while Bangladesh's GDP growth rate was 6.1%. The GDP per capita income is still quite higher in favour of Pak. Pak has much more resources as it land is 8,85,000 sq km while Bangladesh's land is 144,000 sq km.

Anyway if Bangladesh progress till 2030 like the way it is now, it will pass Pak GDP.

But...

Yaar, you are so senior guys at PDF, you are behavior is so regrettable. Anyone who is not in line with your beliefs and thoughts is 'Hindian' or 'Gaddar'. You need to grow up guys and stop giving fatwas. Don't be a judge yourself, govts and courts are there to manage these issues. This is how you Pakistani's are treating each other and the major reason of your religious, ethnic problems. Everyone in Pakistan is 'Kaffir', 'Agent' or 'Gaddar' in each other's eyes. Do you have a single single person in Pakistan, acceptable as a Muslim to all????

We also has hypocrites like these, but not in abandon as in Pak.

True but without having the votes of E.Bengal Muslims Pakistan would not happen. So it was combined struggle that got us separate land yet it took us only 25 year to tear each other apart.

True that Bengali Muslims struggle but Pakistani leaders like Quaid e Azam (R.A) Dr Allama M Iqbal (R.A) Sir Aga Khan (R.A) etc proposed Pakistan consisting of Punjab Afghania(KPK-FATA-Waziristan-etc) Kashmir(AJK-GB,J&K) Sindh & Balochistan. Sir Jinnah(R.A) even proposed 3 independent Muslim countries i.e Pakistan, Bengal & Hyderabad. Unfortunately after Bengal joined Pakistan in 47, some of it's leaders start injecting venom into innocent Bengali minds & later we saw that terrorist mutki into action. Mr Jinnah (R.A) clearly said there will be no provincialism & religious favoritism in Pakistan, if only we had followed him the story would be different today.

lol, so you think Pakistan will remain like this forever?

Who knows what will happen after 2014. Also don't forget the land mass of Pakistan plus the natural resources many of which are recently found. Check Natural Resources of Pakistan thread, updates are there. Hopefully(Inshallah) in 5-10 years Pakistan will be able to use it's natural resources as well as export it.

I am not wishing any ill will on Pakistan whatsoever. In fact I would like to see Pakistan and the rest of South Asia develop and become rich states.

The fact is that in the 1980s, Pakistan achieved it's highest GDP/capita growth rate which was still only 3.5% a year. We must bear in mind that due to the Soviet invasion of Aghanistan, billions of dollars of US aid poured into Pakistan during that decade.

During the last decade, BD achieved 4.5% a year GDP/capita growth and is doing around 5% a year this decade while Pakistan is languishing at around 2% a year now.

The question that Pakistanis need to ask is why has a state so rich in natural resources not achieved consistently fast GDP/capita growth despite the fact that it was able to access to resources from BD in the 1950s and 1960s and was also the beneficiary of US aid in the 1980s?

Where did you get all these figures from? Pakistan was touching 8% growth in 2004-2006 period. Still Pakistan is touching 4%growth while fighting a war, can your country do this?

Sardar Patel never let that happen. :cheesy:

There was no possibility of Pakistan getting more area, the newly created Pakistan got almost all of Muslim majority districts. In all cases, Indian National Congress was the most popular political party in British India.

I am talking about GDP/capita growth and not GDP growth. Also it is an average over a decade.

If anything I have said is factually incorrect, then please correct give with reputable sources.
