i dont understand your question. there are many people in india who are categorized as hindus. however from region to region there are different characteristics but there is also many concepts underlying those which are similar. the invaders just lumped to gether all the practices as hinduism in india. in reality hinduism is a way of life and focuses on spirituality.

I seen videos from national geographic of Indians in rat temples praying to rats and drinking milk with rats. Maybe that's why so many Indians look like rats.

Not really. It was a rebellion - but not against Hinduism or Brahmanism. It was a rediscovery of Dharma. Lord Buddha did not even claim to start a new religion. His followers named it Buddhism. Lord Buddha is considered as an avatar of Vishnu in Indian sacred texts.

I did not say he started a new religion. What I said is he was perhaps the biggest critic of Bramhinical dominance in Hinduism. It was a rebellion against the priesthood,the unnecessary sacrifices,the curse of outcast etc. Various schools of Buddhism had absorbed their ideas from vedanta,as in parallel various schools in Hinduism borrowed concepts from the Buddhists.
