Forbes in its new world’s richest list.

Collison, who happens to be 2 months younger than Evan Spiegel, the founder of Snapchat, has a net worth of $1.1 Billion with Spiegel leading in this regard with a net worth of $3.4 Billion.

In November 2016 Stripe closed a $150 million funding that valued the business at $9.2 billion. The transaction turned Collison into the world’s youngest self-made billionaire. John and his brother Patrick came up with Stripe during a vacation to South Africa while John was still an undergrad studying Physics at Harvard. The duo launched the company in 2010. and launched the product in September 2011.

According to Forbes, the number of billionaires has reached an all-time high at 2,043. Their cumulative net worth rose by and impressive 18 percent totaling at USD 7.67 trillion, also a record. There were 195 newcomers in 2017 including Collison.

In an interview with Wired, he shared some tips for startup success:

It’s easy for people to think the best opportunities are taken. I absolutely don’t think that is true at all. My advice to my younger self would be not to be too OK with the ways the world is broken, and instead see them as opportunities. For instance, I don’t think anyone’s particularly happy with their mobile-phone provider. If a better provider were to come around, I don’t think anyone would be particularly surprised.”

Some of the investors in his company include global conglomerates like American Express, Visa, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, and Sequoia Capital.

Despite his young age, success isn’t a strange sensation for Collison, who previously founded Auctomatic, again with his brother, which helped manage transactions for sellers on sites like Amazon and eBay. They sold the business to Live Current Media for $5 million in 2008, becoming teenage millionaires.
