Even in Kargil operation, India was exposed badly. Indians never tend to admit to the other side of the story.

India will never be a genuine military power like US, Russia and China until they can build all key advanced weapons systems themselves. Not just buying expensive Russian and Western components and putting them together and claiming it to be indigenous.

India needs a highly developed domestic manufacturing and R&D base before it can start to develop systems the Big 3 can produce, India are a long way behind. Until India starts shedding the tag of biggest weapons importer and becomes an exporter of advanced weapons, they are just a client state, like 99%+ of the rest of the World. Only countries that make their own advanced weapons are genuine military powers. Having to rely on others for weapons makes you very vulnerable as you essentially only have a one-time-use military. Real military powers can pump out weapons at will, in time of conflict.

I agree with you completely, 62 war with Chinese was a clear defeat whereas Pakistanis were far too clever than Chinese, they handed down a veiled defeat to Indians. Making Indians believe that they won every War against Pakistan when in realty it's totally opposite.
