In Indonesia usually the female family who share the most burden , since they are the owner of the wedding , thats why the Wedding party costume will be suited to the ethnic of where the female bride come from. And it depends on how rich is the female family. But, if the rich man married poor girl, the male will take all the burden
@SvenSvensonov - If our Russian sister-in-law read half the things you say here; she'd go Don Corleone on you !
Don't know, don't care... it's the bride's parents that pay for the wedding!!! I'm off the hook for that.
...
I get to pay for the honeymoon though.
And you can repeat this phrase to the wife.
"What's mine is yours...and um what's yours is...um...well still yours!"
How the #%^ did i lose out on that deal?
I'd image your wedding to be something like this anyways

The Indonesian winner will participate in Miss India World Wide competition ( Indian American, Indian Malaysian, etc). Your ethnic are spreading across the world.
O heavens no man I'm not gonna get married - Ever !
I'v seen so many seemingly perfect marriages gone so horribly bad that I've been put-off the whole idea of 'marriage' !
Then there is that other thing; with marriage come huge sacrifices. But because the bills keep pilling up, because the 'in-laws' expect a higher societal standing for you and because kids will soon follow you find yourself working twice as hard at a job that you're not entirely wild about to get that promotion that'll give you a fatter pay cheque and greater social standing but comes with considerably lesser peace of mind. And you know that you can't be adventurous and resign to search for your dream job because the bills still need to be paid. Very soon you realize that you keep on putting off your own dreams and ambitions in life because there was that one more meeting that you had to attend or that one more social function the wife wanted to drag you to. And suddenly you realize that you're half way through life and you haven't even done 1/10th the things you wanted to do. You never went backpacking through Italy while sleeping on the pavement and eating pizza out of road side pizzerias. You never went on that countrywide road trip you always wanted to go. And you most certainly never managed to spend a month in the countryside spending your days waltzing through corn fields, sitting by that creek reading a good book or gazing at the stars with your loved one at night where all the care in the world just vanished. And why ? Because that money your kid needs for college isn't going to grow it self nor is your wife's dream house complete with a backyard pool and an envious lawn going to be funded by your imaginary leprechaun buddy. You come to realize that all your dreams have given way to seeing you become a human ATM and with all that pent-up frustration, sense of despondency and worthlessness you're not too sure your relationship with your family are that emotionally fulfilling anymore either.
I'm not sure that I'm cut-out for that life !
Best rant about why not to get married that I've seen today. Bravo!!! Sad thing is, that's all very valid. Damn, I'm letting my life go. Oh well, maybe bonded servitude is fun.
Don't mind me; I'm just a grumpy guy !
I'm sure both you and our Russian sister-in-law are going to have a wonderful life together; a life of love, companionship and fulfillment !
Russian NOW !? or French ? or Italian ? or Israeli ?
I'm confused
Mrs. @SvenSvensonov is a Russian !
About how many ladies Sven wooed; I dunno !
He did learn from the best - Me !
- fortunate I'm not that stupid. I own our house, and MY beach-house in Colonial Beach, I keep my bank account to myself, just about our only jointly owned item is our dog - my dog. Never, ever opt for joint ownership or custody of anything... or else that phrase becomes reality!
I've still got my freedom of finances, though she's entitled to whatever she needs to be happy.
