This depends on your social class, customs within the family, your family's economy etc.
It's not uncommon for weddings in the GCC to be very big. I am here talking about several hundred participants and sometimes several thousands.
The dowry is also a pain in the *** to put it mildly.
Overall weddings in the GCC (KSA included) are probably one of the most expensive ones in the world on average.
Weddings are more expensive in Qatar and UAE though than in KSA.
In 2003 the average costs of a wedding for the husband and bride was SR165,000 each. That was back then about $44.000 in today's money. Prices have only gone up since then. 12 years have passed after all.

I don't actually know the current average costs (precisely) but I assume that they are significantly more expensive. So you can all imagine that it's exceeding $55.000 per person. So in total (both husband and bride) probably above $100.000 all included. Meaning dowry, renting, furnishing, food, wedding ceremony and honeymoon etc.
So I have to definitely say $50.000 + on your scale @Hakan . No wonder that many in the GCC prefer marriages with foreigners due to the insanely high costs and expectations.
