In the US, depends how many people attending wedding. If you are inviting thousands, it will definitely reach $30,000. In Gaza, most weddings are similar, same sized banquet hall/whatever you call it for almost everyone. Usually hundreds are invited. But men stay out and just sit on chairs. The morning of the wedding day they pass out food if the family decided to. And usually it is rice and meat. It can reach 6,000 dinars. Depending on building used.

people go all out for marriage here, they extend themselves as much as they can in most cases across economic sections, some of the rich folks' wedding parties are just ludicrously expensive but there is a trend (in modern urban India at least) for couples to foot the bill themselves.

Yeah, I'm marrying a Russian girl. The only thing they love more than themselves, is money. I'm about 5th on her love list. Wealthy family, I'm not exactly hurting for cash either, but the Russian's take a love of money a bit too seriously.

So much for the land of Communists, the only nations more in love with capitalism then the US is are China and Russia.

Nothing has been spilled, I hardly mind spending money on her, it has "benefits". It's all worth it, but the whole concept of marriage, and the amount of money that goes into it is outrageous... and too expensive.

This kind of culture also happen in Indonesia, I like the wedding that only invite "private" guest like family only. People will feel ashamed if they cannot have a big party for their daughter wedding. Minimum we should invite 200 guest and the highest cost is food. Thats why I prefer female from my own big family now, so we can decrease food cost
