How many of you believe in UMMA or Islamic Brotherhood ?

Now thats confusing...some say ...Ummah means one Islamic entity....where people live under Sharia laws ...and all that....some say the exact opposite....

Ummah means Nation - didn't you ever heard the word called "Ummat" you are from India i am sure many peoples must be using word "Ummat" which (i guess) must also have become part of Urdu vocabolary due to its wild use among Muslims.

Whatever ...but its difficult to get Muslims to come together now... especially because the economic and political gap that has been created has become bigger than ever before.

Why can't we get united again? I don't find any reason to not get united. If Pakistan and China get maintain good relationships, if Pakistan and Saudi Arabia can enjoy friendly relationships then why can't other nations do the same? Increase collaborations i.e. bilateral trades and increase the level of trust amongst each other. The foundations of Ummah has been laid

Ummah just means a Nation. Like India is a nation - Pakistan is a nation. It has no specific definitation thats just an arabic word as a nation or community. This word is mostly use amongst Muslims sometimes giving a definition of brotherhood among Muslim Nations. You can increase the brotherhood by bilateral trades, collaboration in defence and other sectors to achieve the basic targets of this ideology. Once this is achieved - We shall talk next

My educated Muslim friends in India don't talk about Ummah...or Ummat....even Muslims residing in the same locality I live in Don't talk about this concept....and I have frequent interaction with them so I think they don't have any interest in this so called Ummah concept.

Why can't we get united again?

Political interests...power games...and mine is bigger than yours fights among Muslim Countries.....

I don't find any reason to not get united.

Only time will tell...and nothing has happened over past 60 plus years....

Well its not a mutually beneficial relationship....just Pakistan accepting that China offers....and China Pak relationship is not an example for Ummah.

Exactly...that is what is not happening..and is not going to happen any time soon...at least I don't see this happening in my life time....Muslim countries world over will always be deciding on basis of their own interests rather than getting united on basis of religion.

Ummah concept is an ideal concept for Muslims but no it doesn't exist. Atleast not in real world.
PS. I want Pakistan to be strong on its own and not with the support of Muslims countries.

This discussion here is about a concept..that may or may not change the world as we know it....and not about hardcore religion.....its about Muslim countries getting together to form a bigger Islamic empire.....so its a geopolitical discussion and not a religious one.

what he really means is you will not be in a better position to understand the concept ....if you havnt read the UNDERLYING faith/discipline/concepts/basis of muslim society..

fact of the matter is, many of our muslim brothers havent studied it or they tend to ignore the basic teachings of islam

Regarding Geo-politics and other concepts :

we dont separate politics from islam

Juda ho Deen siyasat se tou reh jaati hai changezi
(if you will separate Islam from politics then only barbarism will we left)

so here is the difference, unlike all other religions, we dont separate Religion from State...

and we are trying to achieve that in pakistan by making our laws more shariah compliant.

no burden on Indians since they are secular and law of STATE prevails over law of Religion..

Thread is" you believe in Ummah or not" and question is being asked by muslim to muslims in this forum..

we can have a separate thread where we can discuss the concept itself in details and how it is beneficial for whole humanity not only muslims

Believing in Ummah is an obligation as was pointed out by many members in this thread! But there is a lot of racism, nationalism, and hatred in this Ummah! Muslims treating each other like animals, betraying each other.

Right now Pakistan is already in enough problems, and for now we should focus on Pakistan ONLY, after we have fixed our internal problems then we can move on to help and unite other Muslims!

This state of the Ummah is mentioned in the Quran and ahadiths and it will only get worse before it can get any better don't worry, God didn't say it would be perfect, or else we wouldn't be struggling like this and would easily forget or take it for granted! Just that we are discussing this exact issue of muslim unity is great! it shows that it's still alive and I truly feel that muslims really want this!
According to our profet who is remembered saying:
My ummah will split into 73 sects all are destined for the fire except one". The Sahaba then asked " who are they". The prophet replied " "those who are with me as I am today and my companions". He also said, "Adhere to the true Religion of Allah and do not disunite. Recall the endowment of Allah upon you that you were enemies and Allah mended your hearts together."
In short, always remember the teachings of the Quran, and the profet's sunnah, do fair, and unite. I always read the prophet's last sermon as a way to reinstate optimism in my heart
