That's costing lives but it's hurting isreal far more. The world and mostly the arab nations were turning a blind eye to Palestinian cause and isreal was gaining world support and appearing as just another normal nation.
Now after this it reminded isreal that they are sitting on a occupied land , they gonna live in fear and depression. By retaliating they earned hatred of the whole world because of their violence against Palestinians. Even the nations who accepted isreal recently are now facing immense public pressure and have gone anti Israel.
Even though isreal is losing less people they are in a long bloody war. Far from being normalized as another nation. And that will definitely halt their economic progress.
On a bigger picture that will weaken US and Nato in Ukraine war.
