How do Pakistanis and Bangladeshis interact with each other abroad?

. . .
Most of Bengalis I met had very friendly relationship with Pakistan some did have some mixed views but one thing was common among all Bangladeshis their grudge for Indians and I am not kidding. Obviously some even had for Pakistanis but majority was against Indians. I always use to start some touchy issues about India with them.

Yup. Most are shifty and frankly hostile and insecure (a perceptible inferiority complex chip sitting squarely on their shoulder). I've found Pakistanis a lot warmer.

I'm talking mainly highly educated professionals here btw. Not coolie types.

There, I've said it. :D Probably shouldn't have said frankly as I haven't seen the movie. Most of the time movies/tv shows based on novels turn out to be a disappointment.

I watched the movie as a kid and read the novel only much later (I couldnt stand books without lots of pictures for quite a long time hehe)....mostly because my mom was a big huge fan of the story in general.

Today I know much more about the civil war in general, inlcuding the battle of atlanta and always question her do you remember this and that...heres the context etc etc.

The movie overall is a decent watch....still is the highest grossing film of all time (when you include inflation).....and one of the most memorable soundtracks.

A really old movie too that was on the cusp of an era that came before it and what came after it (much like Sholay in Indian cinema).....I mean it was made back when there was still much relevant to the civil war going on (segregation etc). If I remember correctly the lady who portrayed mammie had to take the goods elevator instead of the normal one to receive her oscar on stage....because of the segregation policies of the time.

Glad we have left that time behind us.

So a bit of trivia for you to chew on hehe.

You've got too much hate in you. Not very good for you or for people around you.

I gave my opinion rather than doing takaloof like you guys do. Maybe you can try showing your true face once in a while. I have lots of Bangladeshi friends from NYC and have nothing but good experiences.

I don't even know why I'm doing this but here's some friendly advice for you. Being polite, courteous and showing good manners doesn't cost too much. Its a good investment and the returns are usually great. Make it.

Pakistan has no direct issues with BD but third party does not want the relation ship bw Pak & BD.The 3rd party has made a political party in BD, such as MQM in Pak.

That's painting with a pretty broad brush......hostile?? What for? 99.99% of our gene haplotypes are the same...invented 'differences' notwithstanding....

I had a chance interacting with Bangladeshis in Germany. Some of them were Urdu knowing, and with others we used to talk in English.

Bachay apne mashwaray apni jaibi me rake lein. Being polite for the sake of takaloof is patronizing to the person that you address. I said I didn't like the chai. What are you going to do about it? Personally, I find it is very disrespectful to lie to people just to show yourself as a 'polite' person, because in reality the focus is on your ego and not about the intentions behind your actions. Put on some big boy pants and realize that not everyone in the world is going to share your behavior, or sentiments.

Well some Indians are downright mean, belittling and demeaning to them in real life. Add to that the DADA-complex and its no surprise really.

But there are many that are friendly open people....and yes you will come across the India hate/issues they have at some level at some point....but its to be expected and you know how they are as people so its no big deal (Esp if you are a southie like me who has had issues with certain behaviours of other indians and can empathise).

Hostile is a feeling you get in the very first introductory interaction. Face, body language, eyes.

Shifty is mainly the eyes.

Just sharing my experience here. Maybe it's just me they were reacting to and otherwise they are really warm n nice.

Maybe there were professional dynamics involved.

Who knows?
