How China trains its children to win gold? - standing on a girl's legs

Sounds truly capitalist and like anywhere in the West bro.

No state or party support at all? Come on .... !

the first gold medalist of this Olympics,Chinese shooter Yi Shiling almost quit shooting training and planned to go back to her hometown to do a small vending businese cause her family can't support her with the expensive shooting equipment, but luckily Guangdong shooting club came to her and offer the free training cause they believe she has the potentials, that's way she represent Guangdong instead of her home province Hunan.

I think...China is more Capitalist than most of the West and India for sure. And that's good for the time being.

Sorry bro. Without a radical revamp of our sports (not cricket) infrastructure at all levels and our administration and planning, we will NEVER get there.

Take it from someone who has seen a bit of how our sports bodies at the national level operate.

WE WILL NEVER GET THERE.

You are acting like a pessimist buddy, Indian govt had spend close to 3 billion rupees on this olympics, hope we will get good infrastructure.

All these schools are private owned and run, or by the state/party?

Can you tell us a little bit of your school system and how kids are identified early on for aprtitude towards individual sports?

How does it go from there?

I am finding it hard to imagine that your state machinery is not involved anywhere.

Please rest assured that I am not one of those who equate that with "bloody communists"!

my girl friend is a professional dancer, she started training when she was barely 10 years old,and her parents paid a fortune to get her in,she cried a lot during the daily training and her parent warned her"if you can take it,we will get you back home" ,but deep inside they always want to be better than other kids, and she chose to stay, one of her classmate became the lead dancer in the Beijing Olympic games, the dance "飞天".

We are talking about 4 year olds here buddy.

The one who uses "never" is not some stable enough to pass judgment in the first place, keep ur brooding someplace else.

I played interstate basket ball, and i admit tht the officials are corrupt and prejudiced ,

but nevertheless all a country needs is one concerted effort and a private-public governing body tht is result oriented, and are incentiveised for results.

Does it ever occur to your government that maybe you can outsource it to the Koreas? They seem pretty sharp this year in London.

I am being a pragmatist.

Every Indian Olympian is a hero.

And is where he or she is in spite of his or her sport's national body and its officials.

Which makes their achievement, to whatever level, more commendable.

But thats where it will remain.

We will always have statistical outliers coming to the fore and bursting on the scenes once in a while.

Consistent world beating takes a LOT more.

Forget world - consistent ASIA beating takes a LOT more.

We are saying essentially the same thing.

Without your misplaced optimism.

not easy to say,if you have connections or your parents who have a lot of money ,you will have a better chance to get into those schools but you will probably fail and end up having nothing cause you just dont have the talent.other kids are found by athlete scouts combing thru all the primary schools and middle schools looking for talented kids, they are more likely to become very successful.but it is always the parents or the kids choice to go or not.
