How can Egypt counter the F35i?

Some instant offers :)
no stealth aircraft is really stealthy. The radar will give it away. And it can be detected a lot further away than the stealth aircraft can detect the opposition. Frequency hopping radars don’t help because the radar warning receivers are receiving over a broad frequency range.

the Russians have several long range missiles designed or in design to take out AWACS and tanker aircraft. We are talking about a range of up to 400 kilometers.
The combat support for a F-35 could disappear fast.
The Russians have a tradition of having good missiles. Example R-73 (missile)

The F-35 has ill fitting equipment and general problems as of now. The pilots helmet restrict the movement of the pilots head. This could be very bad in a dogfight.
It is quite possible that Russian fighters may be able to shoot down the F-35. I would expect this to be done with a long range infra red homing missile. Possibly paired with an active radar homing version to stress the F-35 pilot.

Among the fighters, J-31, SU-35 and rafale are good options.
And between the SAMs, S-300PMU2, S-400 and MEADS are good and also available options for Egypt.

That is not ready yet, Egypt needed something for the immediate needs..

Hopefully we will see a joint Arab project in this regard sometime in the future. Money, manpower nor talent is lacking.
This would be the optimal solution for all parties involved. However this depends on the will of the leaders and regimes in power which fair to say don't reflect the aspirations of the Arab nation in this regard and most other.
Of course also outside interference from foreign powers who have no interest seeing such a potential project or similar ones seeing the daylight one day. Unity is the sole solution.

Forget West, Russia etc. If absolutely needed work with them in regards to joint projects but otherwise keep everything local. With hard work, dedication and time this can be done. But there must be political will and strong and honest leaders behind such a project.

Anyway Egypt and Israel are not in conflict currently and Egypt has homered the peace treaty that they signed with Israel as have Jordan. I don't expect any war to occur soon however one must always be prepared.

Egypt can counter f35i so they must approach in an asymmetric way. May be by ballistic missiles or any thing else.

Well recently the UAE started a join venture with the Russian MiG corperation to developed a fifth generation aircraft. If the Arabs throw enough billions at it the Russians might just a consider an equal share, if not majority. Then again you can always join the TF-X if the need is there.

I Agree in such a region where israel and Turkey are going to be equipped with most modern Jets, Egypt would need to move forward but both PAK-FA/Chinese aircraft could not be offered between time period 2025-2030 for technical reasons apart from that money would have to come from Egypt non is going to provide softloans for Next Gen not to Egypt not to Pakistan.
In my view Mig-35 is a worst deal they just killed F-16 fleet because the current tensions between US and Russian are at height, ordering Mig-35 is cutting spares and support of F-16 that is 200+ F-16s are at stake big and stupid risky decision.

The ideal decision would have been FC-1/JF-17 Block III and Later Block IV for verity of reasons and US would not have been alarmed what could have come next in form of Block IV that were are hearing dimond nose cone and other improvements to the airframe who knows Block IV gets a small internal weapons bay to station 2-3 SD-10s or some pod stealth to carry 3-4 SD-10s...those FC-1s could be used in verity of situations bang for the buck under 45m and replaces atleast 8 squadrons straight including Mig-21/F-7/Mirage V. Lets see in next 5 Years.
The Mig-35 is not bad at all, it replaces the mig-21 fleet with BVR and AESA capabilities on top of the most modern EW and avionics and much more..Also Egypt is negotiating to upgrade a part of its F-16 fleet to the latest Block V, since Trump is pro-Egypt and has promised more economical as well as military aid.. The FC-1 will be made in Egypt in the future, there was a lot of talk about it, but Egypt went for its immediate needs, hence the Rafale, the Mig-35 and the SU-30/35 deals to counter the new tech gap created by the F-35 in the region.. The JF-17 is a light weight potent fighter it is not a medium or heavy weight fighter like what Egypt just procured but it will have its role to play in the Egyptian airforce one day or another..

Both projects are long term, What can Egypt do now to counter the existing F-35 threat that proved to be a potent fighter? In the last drills it won 13 (or more) to 1 against the F-16, F-15 and F-18, all potent fighters..

A few options that Egypt can take:

- Invest in a worthwhile SAM network capable of detecting LO aircraft
- Upgrade existing F-16s with a capable AESA radar & datalink capabilities
- Induct "force multipliers" -- i.e. AWACS & ECM aircraft such as the E-2 or the Saab Erieye
- Purchase (or co-fund) the FC-31 -- this, however, would make Egypt's logistics even more complex (with aircraft purchased from the US, Russia, France, & now China)

- Which one would you recommend?
- Egypt is negotiating with the US to upgrade some F-16s to the V block
- Egypt has some but need better
- FC-31 or J-31 is not ready yet, logistics wise there won't be much of a problem, Egypt has a production line for some Chinese trainers and advanced Russian engines can be used, the option of western and Chinese engines is open to Egypt too..

In all of these, only the last option can provide some parity in tech and usage with the F-35, while another potent option will for Egypt to make advanced tactical and strategic ballistic and cruise missiles as a more potent defence deterrent.. one can call it offensive-defence..
The SU-35 long range radar might also help somehow as a mini AWACS when combined with the Mig-35, Rafale, F-16s and ground defences..

And now here is one of the best tactics for Egypt to counter the F-35:

It consists of the creation of independent air defense systems like the Russian Tor-M1/M2, Buk-M2/M2E and Pantsir-S1/S2, each of which is an independent air defense system with its own sensors and weapons. The Russians in this aspect are clearly superior and preferably these systems have passive sensors and are connected to other systems or sensors via fibre optic cables or microwaves to prepare traps along the expected paths of the air attack, this can be achieved by using the hit and hide tactics, using pre-prepared professionally camouflaged bunkers and as well as move and change places constantly within a detailed plan to make it difficult for the Usraeli Air Force to determine their locations and bomb them.. The goal is to exhaust the Usraelis and change their priorities and disrupt/split their forces at the beginning of any air attack.
This technique will create a great confusion and change the priorities of any Usraeli air attack and make it very complex..
The F-35 won't be able to network (its main force and advantage) with its support of F-15s and F-16s and will become very vulnerable to air-defences and opposing fighters..
