OK for your "POLL" lover only
The most creditable poll of HK by the HK university showed
https://www.hkupop.hku.hk/english/
A university poll in July of about 1,000 people found 17.4 percent supported independence, though only 4 percent thought it possible
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...hat-s-at-stake-in-hong-kong-post-protest-vote
So how did you came up with 50 percents supported independence in HK?

Actually the poll made by HKU was a farce

This guy Chung Ting Yiu is one of the biggest arseholes in HK
He is behind all the polling survey on the ratings of HK government's Secretaries and CE which tends to be manipulative because he designs the questionaires and the selection of samples

They are bunch of weaklings, where they cried for the US' help to stop the HK police using tearing gas and "pointing" riot gun, yet the police only pointed the riot gun and not even shoot. What they only good for are to bully old people, women and children, to throw bricks and set fire. I can't imagine how they can fight for HK independent when they face the PLA. Or may be they will cry to stop PLA using any weapon except the bear hands, like what they did to HK police last time.

That's actually the way they seek attention and achieve coercive power. They will, of course, not be able to act like good old socialist revolutionaries. For many reasons, including:

1. They do not develop ideas/theories, they are taught ideas by external factions/interests. Hence, they never believe in their cause to death. The so called independence people will chickened out at the slightest show of force. PLA Garrison do not even have to bother to move a finger. Local police with sticks will suffice.

2. They are weaklings in their own private lives. They are low-achievement people who seek satisfaction in the easiest way possible. When the moral standard is so low, the will to stand up to difficulties will also be weak.

3. They inherently know their cause is lost even before it hatches. Hence, what they need to do is to create disturbance as much as possible. With one eye and one foot on the land of their colonial master, most of them are probably waiting for the call from the master to come home to roast. None of them are therefore deep believers.

The overwhelming majority of Greater China, on the other hand, is a strong-willed, determined people whose prosperity and happiness is tied to the prosperity and happiness of the land.

The government should also kick out the troublesome NGOs.

U.S. to maintain 'one country, two systems' in HK: U.S. Consul General
2016-09-23 08:45Xinhua Editor: Mo Hong'e

"One country, two systems" policy is the key framework that makes Hong Kong "special" and competitive, Kurt Tong, U.S. Consul General to Hong Kong and Macau said on Thursday.

"U.S.'s view on this is crystal clear," he said, "The United States recognize that Hong Kong is part of China. We also very much value the high degree of autonomy that Hong Kong enjoys under the 'one country, two systems' policy," Tong addressed a luncheon held by the American Chamber of Commerce.

Tong said the construct of "one country, two systems" has been highly successful in protecting Hong Kong's open society and institutions.

Hong Kong's specialness not only lie in the geography, economy and culture sectors, while the most important factor is the strong rule of law, transparency and openness, which cerate the basis for business and trade to succeed, he added.

He said the relationship between the United States and China's Hong Kong has been quite "successful" in areas such as finance, trade, investment, education and exchange programs, and the United States aims to streamline the visa appointment process in future to attract more students and visitors.

It was the first public speech Tong has made after he assumed the duties on Aug. 26 this year.

Prior to his service in Hong Kong, Tong was the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs at the Department of State.

I agree NGOs are troublemakers and their activities should be monitored closely and to kick them out asap but the Americans are not angels

Well, one question remains, to what extent, exactly, can the Chinese-appointed Chief Executive Mr. Leung be trusted?
