Actually the fertility rate has come down. And by 2020, it is expected to be approximately 2, ie. bordering on replacement levels. From then population will either be stagnant or reduce.
I seen the article I'm assuming you are basing this on, but at 1.66 China's population is still increasing.
Japan at 1.44 isn't really decreasing much at all.
So at ~2 India will still continue to produce far more population than anyone else.
At every estimate I seen India will probably top off at 1.65 billion people more or less.
