The brother of the woman simply wanted to control the life of the woman. If the woman's lover was a Muslim I think the result would have been the same.

You sound confused. If you believe in socialism and secularism, you cannot be a Muslim and vice versa. Islam is against socialism and secularism.

My view is simple.

Either the girl and boy both keep their faith.

Or the girl converts to the faith of the guy, because lineage is patrilineal and she is anyways taking his surname. As are the kids who will be born to them.

Now if the girl is not allowed to remain a Muslim in spite of the Hindu guy not converting, then the courts need to step in. As they did in the case of the two Parsi sisters recently.

Simply put, if the girls get married in a civil ceremony, then no power in India can prevent them from practicing the faith they were born into.

If however they choose to get married under the religious rites of the boy's faith, then they do forego the right to remain of their born faith.

The rest, killing etc., is desi chutyapa. We have a long way to go before becoming a civilized society.

Secularism : Separation of state and religion. Islam does not allow that.
Socialism : Cannot be there without secularism.

Now you can try to distort facts.

But can't change the reality. Islam and Muslims isn't/aren't tolerant of other religions.

Identifying yourself as a communist/socialist/secular Muslim is being delusional. Because Islam is totally opposite to those ideologies.

Your even country bans movies which show Muslim girl falling in love with a Hindu. Pakistan's existence is based on bigotry. So never ever try to compare it with India.

Islam is an older form of socialism. It is not coincidence that most Muslim-majority societies in the last century have been either governed by socialist ideology or have had socialist movements.
