Similar to other Hindu practices and beliefs such a considering the cow sacred, not eating its beef but using its urine and feces for medicinal and religious purposes, the caste system and devadasis there is another very important Hindu custom which unfortunately has been suppressed due to foreign domination and influence. The Muslim rulers discouraged it but did not totally stop it but it was the British who ruthlessly rooted out the practice. This nobel and sacred Hindu practice is Sati, where widows would kill themselves by jumping in the funeral pyres of their husbands.

My question is that with the resurgence of Hinduism thanks to Modi Bhai, should there also be a revival of this custom? Should the influence of foreigners and colonialist be purged from the law books? Should Sati be actively revived and in fact celebrated as a sacred cornerstone of Hindu religion and culture?

There is a lot of talk about how ancient Hindus had developed sophisticated technologies which have implications even today so why not consider reviving other old Hindu practices such as Sati.

The revival will have significant positive social impact. It will address issue of millions of Hindu widows who live in Ashrams shunned by the society.

I would appreciated a good positive discussion especially from the Indian members who seems to spend more time on Pakistani defense sites than anywhere else.

Is Sati a cultural practice or religious practice? If religious, what's it's purpose? I'm against defaming Indians or Hindus base on their past practices. Their current religious intolerance is already alarmingly frightening that there is no need to bring up their past barbaric acts. Unless they restarted again themselves.

It is a religious practice and its rooted in the vedas.

Thanks. It's indeed possible that the current regime might revive it as anything Vedic can be revived. On top of that, they might force widows of other religion to adopt it as well.

Can't hindutva turds simply consider a beef kebab as sati being performed..... After all they think a cow is their mother.... If mother then presumably also a wife at some point .... Can't they just assume that the cows husband has died ..... After all apprantly eating bull is fine ....and cow is perfectly happy to be cooked over fire similar to her husband

Your insights are very thoughtful.

To Hindus not only cows other animals e.g monkeys, elephants, pigs, crows, rats etc are sacred and shouldn't be killed or eaten

Seems eating rats and monkeys have taken toll on your brain!!!

I think this is a good proposition, Modi ji will definently look into it.

These foreign mlecchas Muslims and Europeans have polluted the Vedic culture, banning the Sati and the caste system. They have humiliated the real Hinduism. Bringing it back will enlighten the young minds of India and soon India will go back to being an advanced space faring civilization as told in the Mahabharata

The same things used by british and Islamic invaders to sub due Hinduism and native culture are used as the propaganda now. Most of the practices like sati are eliminated from Hindusim now.

Camel piss is described as a medicinal cure in one of the incidents during the prophets time and even Arabs also believe in this and you people come and rant about cow urine which no one really uses these days.

As far as i know there is no religous root to this sati practice.
And no, noone is talking about it in india, except few good for nothing peeps on this thread.

Btw if you are so much fond of it, you can revive it in pakistan.

That's a popular but baseless belief actually. On the contrary, Rg verses in 10th mandala urges the widow to return to the family and live a normal life.
