NEW DELHI:
HIGHLIGHTS
  1. Hindu population reducing because Hindus never convert people: Rijiju
  2. Congress accused BJP of 'converting' Arunachal Pradesh into Hindu state
  3. Congress should not be making such provocative statements, tweeted Rijiju

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, responding sharply to a Congress comment, tweeted today that the "Hindu population is reducing in India because Hindus never convert people." In the middle of elections in five states including Uttar Pradesh, the comment has stirred a controversy.

Mr Rijiju posted a series of tweets along with a screen grab of a news report that quoted the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee as saying that the "Narendra Modi-led BJP government is trying to convert Arunachal Pradesh into a Hindu state".

Accusing the Congress of making provocative statements, Mr Rijiju tweeted," Hindu population is reducing in India because Hindus never convert people. Minorities in India are flourishing unlike some countries around."

Reacting to the statement, Hyderabad lawmaker Asaduddin Owaisi said Mr Rijiju "should remember he is a minister of India for all Indians, not for Hindus only. Remember your oath as minister."

Mr Owaisi, the chief of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen or AIMIM, also tweeted, "What have the minorities India got to do with minorities of 'other' countries? It is Constitution which guarantees rights (sic)."

Mr Rijiju, the Minister of State for Home Affairs, is from Arunachal Pradesh, which has been struggling with political instability since last year, when Congress dissidents helped throw out their Chief Minister. Since then, there have been four Chief Ministers.

The Congress has accused the BJP of playing a big role in the turmoil. The party in Arunachal Pradesh also accused Mr Rijiju of doing nothing for development and trying to destabilize the state. The tradition and culture of the indigenous tribe of Arunachal Pradesh are at stake under BJP rule, said the Congress.

Mr Rijiju tweeted, "Congress should not make such provocative statements. India is a secular country. All religious groups enjoy freedom and living peacefully."

About time to reverse the trend.

If people of dharmic faiths keep sleeping on European apologeticism, we will end up being endangered minority at this rate.

Buddy I think its quality which matters :) ...if we have good quality less population then I think its best ... the concern is minorities are increasing exponentially :(

There is a reason Hinduism never left India but Buddhism did. Hinduism put people in caste system with Indians as the superior caste. No one will accept as being inferior. So Buddhism spread, while Hinduism exist in populations oppressed by the Aryans after the invasion.

Not really.

Hierarchical system is uniquely isolated to some parts of the country. You would be hardpressed to find casteism in mountain states or even in Hindus of the Northeast India.

It has no base in any religious scriptures and there is no 'there has to be a caste system' mandate. It is a social practise twisted by selfish people.

Nepalis don't impose caste nor do Balinese Hindus and neither do Chams.

There was no Aryan invasion. This has been time and again proven that it was a British colonial myth that was meant to justify their attempt at conquering this part of Asia.

There is no word called 'Aryan' in Sanskrit. the 'n' ending like Indian, Russian, German etc is a very Anglo-Saxon practise. This itself shows how ridiculous the British were in trying to impose their own fictitious thought processes. The funny thing is that Germans literally bought this whole lie.

'Arya' on the other hand means 'noble'. This can be nature of the person, like, the person is a noble soul as a praise or is very noble.

Buddhism spread because its teaching was based on the core principles of Dharma and in an age of brute conflicts and inter-kingdom wars, found a lot of appeal.

It makes me proud to be a Buddhist in saying this. However, Hindu Dharma in its pure sense remains the base and foundation of Dharmic traditions. Not many modern Ambedkarites accept this, But it is the truth.

the concern is minorities are increasing exponentially :(

And that too those who do not add any value to the demographics of the nation.

I'd have been happier if Zoroastrians had increased. They are amazing people. Hard working, sincere, dedicated to the country, lots of integrity and very, very intelligent.

Some of the luckiest ones are reverting to Islam as we discuss here

. .
I meant by quality the literate and creative people not upper caste , ...... Israel has just 7 million people and see the clout in international politics , you are right , I met some Hindus from Arunachal Pradesh and they are really open minded , In North also things are changing ....... I mean we dont need more poor people , we need literate and qualified people as , North East have very high literacy rate although their population is less

You are trying to reason with a known troll

On topic
Are North Eastern people of Indic faiths doing something about this?

I couldn't have said it better myself. Except for the fact that some Hindus are converting because they are ashamed to be part of a dishonorable religion.

An example would be in 1947 Pakistan gave India all they promised but India did not give all they promised (Kashmir).

.
Really I mean Really .
Are you Serious Are you Serious Are you Serious :D

We need to worry if our Population numbers come down .
But the fact is , its increasing .
Fear mongering should stop .

If Hindu leaders fear so much , they should have a Cultural Revolution , Revival of Arts etc instead of Mongering .

Isn't this minister a NE Indian minority? Many Hindus would regard him as a Chinese and never regard him as an equal. It's sad but that is the view of many Indians. I hope that one day, Indians can be less racist.

About time to reverse the trend.

NE Indians are regarded as minorities. Hindu Brahmins from real India would wonder that as a foreigner, why are you defending Hinduism.

He is a hindu and is expressing his opinion about declining population of hindus in India. Why are you trolling about racism??

.
you call getting minority quota / subsidy or living in daily dread of your children getting radicalized lucky?

So being a Muslim means you are likely to be radicalized?
where did you get that logic from? if there are radicals in society they exist in all religions so what you just said is ignorant.
