Dude that is reaching by any standard.......whilst there are different sects within Christianity there are no "castes" and definitely no "untouchables".
Now the question that has to be asked is........(and you guys need to be truthful here.) would there be less problems for them as Christians or as lower caste members?
First and foremost, most of the so called lower caste who become Christians face a "veiled" discrimination from the Christians themselves. I came to know about this from my Christian roommate. We were actually discussing about a girl for him and he said his mom wont allow to marry her as she was a lower hindu caste convert! I was really shocked.
Now being a so called lower caste within Hindu. They have more facilities compare to the so called higher caste Hindus. But ofcourse they end up loosing the benefits once they convert.
There is so much benefit that the higher caste people fake up as lower caste member to get these benfits!
The lower caste people who have got these benefits, have become rich. But then these rich people discriminate their own people once they become rich! This is the unfortunate fact!
Now the concept about who come under this so called "lower caste" people. In southern India people who have been land owner during the British period have used political power to declare then lower caste,so that they can get these benefits!
Even if a normal Hindu would like to do away this caste thing, the politicans would not allow it. Indian politicans are a great believer of divide and rule policy of the British. If you happen to get into a fight with a lower caste chap, you will get have a unbailable arrest warrant issued against you! Because of this most of the thugs used by the politicans are from lower caste.
This is how the mess is.
