AMRITSAR: Stating that they do not wish to return to Pakistan due to Taliban's tyranny in the tribal areas, a group 35 Hindus, nearly half of them
women, from the neighbouring country have crossed over to India and asked the government to allow them to settle in the country.

"We were living in Pakistan under extreme fear due to the domination of a strong group of Taliban who are running a parallel government," Jagdish Sharma, a resident of tribal area near Peshawar in Pakistan, said.

Recounting their ordeal, he said "Hindus and Sikh families are not safe, especially our women. We preferred to migrate in India, at least here in India we know that our families will be safe."

The four families comprising 16 men, 16 women and three children crossed over to India during the last few days through the Attari check post and later went to Delhi where they got a one-year visa and permission to stay in Amritsar.

"We strongly urge the Government of India to allow us to stay here in India permanently, since we don't want to move back in that hell where there is no life security," said Sharma.

Hardwari Lal, resident of Orkzai nearly 180 km from Peshawar, said, "I was running my grocery shop there which was forcibly taken over by the fundamentalists who also took possession of our entire property".

People migrate to and from both countries from time to time for various reasons. You can put a spin on anything

You can put a spin on anything"However in past few years non-Muslim Pakistani are leaving Pakistan, which is not a good thing. Cities are losing their multicultural composition thus becoming intolerant. This is not good, our Hindus Sikhs Parsis Chritians are as important Pakistanis as the Muslim Pakistani

I'm too lazy to find the articles where Muslims want to leave India because they can't find jobs, are assaulted/raped and overall discriminated against.

One thing surprising about this article is that they migrated more then 200 miles just to head to India. Even the other Muslims fleeing the militants head towards cities and towns. I'd go with Asim and doubt the truth of this article.

1.After Mumbai attacks India had changed the visa process for Pakistanis.

2. Earlier normal visa used to take up about one month in processing. Whereas any internation conference or medical visa used to take 15 to 20 days process for approval.

3. BUT after Mumbai attacks India restricted the visa for Pakistanis.

4. The process has been made complicated and now for normal visa More Than TWO Month in advance one has to submite application for visa.

5. Then there is no fixed time for the process.
6. The common visitors have to wait in looooooooooooonggggggggggg rows to submit their applications. Most of the times almost half of them go back homes or stay at local hotels to come for the same task the next day.

7 ABOVE all when anyone from Pakistan submite application for visit to India for medical reasons or otherwise there is an inquiery among dozens others which asks the applicant to mention the contact where they will stay.

8. There is another form called residency form which is a must to fill by any visiting Pakistani without which India does not issue visa to Pakistanis.

9. If you know the traveling process by Atari through bus then you must be knowing that for traveling by Bus through Atari station you have to book the ticket few months in advance due to messive rush. If you are a sane person and not from Indian yellow media you can well understand it is not childs play to cross over to India easily even legally.

Yes, just ask Dimension, who I believe works with a non-profit that helps Muslims leaving India to settle in Pakistan.

But in any case, on the subject of the thread, the growth of the taliban has also forced a far larger number of Muslims to relocate elsewhere in Pakistan.

Don't tell the Indian govt but the ISI put some spies in that group, it was easier to put them in India that way since the Indian govt allows Hindus to easily enter and live in India.
