Hillary Clinton makes "unbelievable" F-35 pitch to India

Another reminder that US administrations are selected, regulated - and when necessary, dumped by Money Barons/Arms Peddlers.

If the wiki leaks are to be considered true, it proved one thing for sure. the US diplomats posted in any country knew all the intricacies of the inner working of the local govt and dealt with most matters like a seasoned player. So your talking of american administrators being used and thrown by middlemen like some used product is just contrary to reality.

I think it would be a smart choice to buy F-35`s since Israel and India have such close ties, they could upgrade the jets much better with shared experiences.

The idea is fine man but the US policies on tech transfers and the sanctions issue is a problem for us. Since you're in their camp and practically control them (As some people think :P), it doesn't affect you as badly as it is likely to affect us. This was specially visible from Tejas case where we totally relied on Americans and got bamboozled into sanctions, resulting in a 8-10 years of delay in its production which continues to suffer till now as everything had to be made from scratch. That kind of made the HAL and ADA vary of getting anything too close to US-products.

They offer the best technology for sure, but they would be of little use with all that tech if they are parked on the ground most of the time.

Now regarding upgrades, even you guys were only allowed plug and play features for Israeli components. That tells a lot when US refuses to even allow you to modify the aircraft that you will be paying for.

If it is about a second alternative to replacement of your twin-engined jets, you're cordially welcome to join us in AMCA 5th generation project. :D

That`s how the F-16 Jets became so powerful, experience during combat and upgrading them from Israeli and American combat experience.
Of course, terms will need to be reevaluated so that India gets more out of the deal.

That's the problem why the Teens got kicked out of MRCA. Boeing was willing to transfer but US Congress said a big No. Thus ending the prospects then and there. It is a natural law in business that product is usually bought by the customer that he wants, not what the shopkeeper wants, especially when there is such a fierce competition between other shopkeepers as well.

You are talking of administrators - servants. I was talking of the US Administration, ie, the Prez and the powerful people running the show.

Boondd boondd se sagar bharta hai .

I wont be surprised if US offers Nimitz or anything more sophisticated

Better If they give us Ohio Class subs..... with secret codes and ToT......rather than Nimitz......:P

BTW The article calls Rafale and EFT very much poor Aircraft:hitwall:

Why not 5Mt Nuke bombs:azn::devil::rofl:

That would be a bit too much.... perhaps...:D... but nuke subs can be ideal as Russia and France are already having similar deals with India and Brazil respectively.

This report on Eurasia.net by the South Asia Analysis Group this morning on Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's visit to New Dehli last week raises some very big questions. Among them: If this is true, why didn't the US government offer the F-35 to India in the first place? And does the "unbelievable" description of the $65 million F-35 price tag imply a positive or negative connotation?

The DEW Line

Was it F35 i herd it was F22 and Americans wanted to sell to India for 1 dollars plus give India 500 million a plane and fuel for life and off course they come under 10 year bumper to bumper warranty labor included And above mentioned offer comes with complete transfer of technology .

ITS A BLOG SOME Indian fan boys wet dreams i am not saying Americans wont sell f35 but below cost Yeah right.

Why not 5Mt Nuke bombs:azn::devil::rofl:

India can built nuke with many more Mt we want but all countries are minimizing the nuke destruction capabilities. All our hydrogen bombs are 200 kt. Enough to destroy any large city. Hope we never need to use it.

126 fighters don’t make much difference to LM and US where there are orders for more than 2000 jets. US by selling its F-35s to India is looking for interoperability of both forces and an powerful ally in this part of the world. US needs India more than India needs US. I think US will sell the F-35s to India for the same price it sells to its F-35 partners

It will sell, but India is not ready to buy it. To be frank the tender is closed, the offer that US gives always comes with strings, that they won't provide this and that. If they are really interested in the above said inter operability and share of interest as Ally they should have offered F 35 during the earlier days not when both their F 16 Vintage and F 18 super hornet planes are thrown out of the race.
Presently they are facing a debt crises and they are desperate to make some money by selling some hardware to other, and only India is the one nation that they can trust wih the airframe tech. if they are really interested in a co-operation they would have not bothered to give the plane with all fit in accessories.

Taking the crashes into consideration and the delay of home grown one.. its better if MoD decides to give Saab Tata Mahindra JV an order of 8-10 squadrons on Gripen ASAP.
