Are we supposed to believe that China has put her grandest ambition to be a two-ocean (Super)power without adequate homework? Haven't Pak-China alliance secured the LOC with electronic and other sorts of surveillances? Aren't Chinese spy satellites spooking on the Indian moves? Haven't they already armed Pak to face all sorts of eventualities vis-a-vis adventures from the Indian side? Well, My conclusion has been Indians in general do not have the appetite to fight. It doesn't matter if it's kargil, or soldiers heads being chopped off, civilians being blown to bits in hotels, bus stations or bakeries.There are so many of us in number that life of a common man is quite cheap, cheaper than making headlines in NYtimes, or WSJ, cheaper than a handshake from Pakistani premier and his boss, cheaper than getting a nod or a wink from the POTUS....

It's mostly America's fault --- it deliberately turns a blind eye to India's illustrious history (and present) of state sponsorship of terrorism, abysmal human rights record in an Occupied Territory, etc., because the US is so desperate to use India as a buffer against growing (and inevitable) Chinese influence in the region. This allows the illusion of Indian "greatness" to be perpetuated in the international media and feeds back into their national psyche. Reality checks will present themselves soon enough...
