Hilal-e-Pakistan -- Is is devalued ??

I got shocked when I heard that American vice president elect Joe Biden got "Hilal-e-Pakistan". Its a highest award from pakistan. It has its value and should be presented as a life time achievement to ppl who served the country.

Sorry to compare this, but Indian side bharat ratna has given only twice to non-citizen. First to Abdul Ghaffar Khan of pakistan and second to Nelson Mandela. The whole world knows these two men how great they are.

Whats Joe Biden's contribution to Pakistan? He might give some military aid in his term now. How good it is to award him now just to impress him? What if he declares war and kill pakistan ppl? Will he protect pakistan interst poletically???

I am really feeling to kick biden and take that award back. Pakistan award shouldnt go waste and it has to maintain its dignity and value.

I think you raised an interesting point here, we saw 2 awards so far in short time handed out to two people, Americans aswell.
I wonder where dignity remains these days, 1 visit from Biden and he immediately gets a high Pakistani award?
Is Zardari that desperate for close relationships with the U.S.? Or is he simply sucking up to the vice-president?
Either way or another, a tap on Bidens shoulders and some chai would've been enough, but hey, I didn't vote for this government, so don't ask me.

He was the Senate Foriegn Relations Committee Chairman, he has been involved with affairs inside Pakistan for a long time. He was the one who masterminded the economic and military aid to Pakistan.

Hello excuse me..Do u think Hilal-e-Pakistan is for sale? It has its own value. Think of bharat ratna to Bush for nuclear deal. Then u realize the value of Hilal-e-Pakistan.

All this is happening cuz the people representing pakistan are not carrying the voice of people of pakistan. They say we will take the nation with us, it looks me the opposite way round. Pakistan desperately needs marshall law, all these people playing with our country should be given capital punishment

martial law right now will bring the entire country into chaos. it will be worse for Pakistan if theres martial law, but I agree with you PPP doesnt represent the voice of people of Pakistan, theres a strong resentment towards U.S. in Pakistan...lets just see how the new government of US is towards Pakistan. Joe Biden seems to be a sensible person, I dont know about Obama I dont think he took the time yet to visit Pakistan after his campaign's victory.

Maybe Obama-Biden can win the hearts of Pakistanis and improve U.S-Pakistan ties.

Bharat Ratna / Hilal is not given for sacrificing one's life. It is given for outstanding contribution in one's own field of work, which contributes to the development of the nation. The most recent recipients of the Ratna are Ustad Bismillah Khan and Pandit Bhimsen Josh, both famous classical musicians.

Infact, the award was not given from 2002 to 2007 at all, because there were no suitable candidates.

I agree though, giving the highest civilian honour to a visiting (vice) (elect) head of state not very nice.

This is why in India, politicians do not have the authority to confer these awards. If that were the case, Laloo Pradad Yadav would have cornered all the awards for himself. The bureaucrats go through a long procedure and draw a list of potential candidates.

We need democratic institution to flourish. We do not need marshal law. Had we been democratic since 1947, people like Nawaz Sharif and Zardaris would have been long discarded by the people.

Exactly, think about the long term and not the short term. We need to let the democratic institutions flourish, as much as i love Musharraf i still believe that army running the country is not correct.
