Military VIP transport in Pakistan basically have pretty much the same requirements, so why all these different aircraft? We have citation, Embraer, Dassault and now Hawker - I don't get it.

Just to add that PAF also operate one CN-235 in VIP configuration.

"Three Agosta 90Bs were ordered by the Pakistan Navy in September 1994. The first, Khalid (S137), was built at DCN’s Cherbourg yard and was commissioned in 1999. The second, Saad, assembled at Karachi Naval Dockyard, was launched in August 2002 and was commissioned in December 2003. The third, Hamza, which has been constructed and assembled in Karachi, was launched in August 2006 and was commissioned in September 2008.

The third submarine is being fitted with the MESMA air-independent propulsion system, which will be retrofitted to the first two."

PN submarines are respectively 2,4 and 8 years old. If any subs are needed, it is as fleet expansion and certainly not as replacements.

Pakistan Navy - Pakistan Naval Air Arm - Z-9EC ASW variant inducted 23 September 2009, configured with pulse-compression radar, low frequency dipping sonar, radar warning receiver and doppler navigation system. Armed with torpedoes. To be carried on the F-22P Zulfiquar-class frigates.

And there's an order for 6 Z-9C with maybe more to follow.

If NATO navies like the German navy operate modernized MP3C Orions, why wouldn't it be good enough for PN?

And who are you (expertise-wise) to declare EW variants of the Hawker 850XP to be "rubbish". The South Korean navy operates them as well. Do they tend to buy rubbish?

i believe by "spending 20 mil on rubbish" he meant the first bird dedicated to VIP transport not the later EW variants. So just relax, try to stay calm and analyze more thoroughly before you start bashing others. The EW variants would obviously be a great addition to our navy.

cheers

The Citation Sovereign looks great standing alone: but how does it measure up to another jet of its class? The Hawker 850XP is a worthy contender for this competition.

....

In summary, the Citation Sovereign has a definite edge on the Hawker 850XP in terms of performance -- but consider the cost savings before passing a verdict. In 2006 dollars, the Citation Sovereign’s purchase price was $15.5 million, while the Hawker 850XP was $13.8 million. However you look at it, $1.7 million is too significant a difference to be ignored. So how does the Sovereign really measure up to its peer? That answer depends on which you value more -- high performance or an additional couple million in your pocket.

We had incorrectly reported in August that Pak Navy has ordered four Hawker 850XP aircrafts.
Pakakhbar has been informed that Pak Navy has ordered only one such aircraft, which is intended for multi-mission role.
