Have we seen the last of Vishwanathan Anand?

Vishwanathan Anand isn't playing well nowadays. Does it signal the defacto retirement of Anand?

. . .
Magnus Carlsen has forced him to retire for good. Anand was no match to him. He had his time but this is the era of Magnus.

I think he's done his bit. I think he should just chill, and curl up with a coffee laced with Kahlua and a copy of MCO.

Has Anand's mental abilities started to decline? And is he past his prime?
It's normal.
Chess is a young man's game for this reason. Anand has done more than enough.
And yet he's still the champion in Rapid.

Yes. He played a lots of chess and became world champion many times . Age always play its part. He played a lots of chess for India now it will be good if he takes retirement with dignity and start a chess school to train young boys . I am sure that many more chess players are ready to take his place.

@pothead

Obviously not ..he's still sharp as a tack ...my guess is he will not retire for at least 10 years ...come on the guy is still in his forties ..Anatoly Karpov , not long ago , retired in his 60s

In the longer format it will be tough.
In shorter format, he is still the king.

The longer format takes a lot of out person, mentally and physically.
