Hardest place to visit- Sentinel Island (India)

You are right. These mixing up perhaps started only decades back when tourism industry exploded in the island.

Actually the British were responsible. Also the contact with outsiders became fatal for a lot of these tribes with many going extinct. This was not as a result of any direction action by outsiders but by the fact that these populations were susceptible to common diseases/infections that they had no exposure to.

.
I had heard about them in my college days from one of my junior whose father was a navy sailors deployed in the island but i was not aware of direct link to among first human from Africa .......

.
I wonder whether we can call them Indian citizens.
They are more like aliens from a different planet.
Its our duty to protect 'em.

I am wondering if drones can be used to study their habits etc. :)

.
Indeed, they would have no idea that India exists or what India even is. As such there is no need to force the to confront the globalised world, they are not doing any harm, this islands doesn't seem to be of any particular use to the Indian state so just leave them alone, no?

agreed let's leave them alone

Perhaps but if they are living in deep jungles then the EO sensors are of limited use, one would have to use SAR-equipped UAVs ie IN Herons (which are deployed from Car Nicobar). Whether this is a appropriate use of military equipment is open for debate but from a humanitarian interest it may be worth studying them for a while to get an idea of their numbers and general health.

Like you said @levina, it is the duty of India to look after these people.

Worst is something like common cold or flu might turn dangerous for the population of sentinelese as they might not be resistant to such viruses. So there's no way we can let our ppl contact 'em.
UAVs too would be shot down with arrows, but its a risk worth taking and most prolly its the only option.
No wonder Indian govt dropped the idea altogether.

Not too sure about this @levina :D, unless the islanders are operating some radar guided arrows the UAV flying at a couple of hundred KM an hour and at 5,000+ ft aren't at any risk whatsoever.

whats the use of zipping past 'em without capturing their movements over a period of time??

@levina don't worry about that, at those heights and speed the movements of the people on the ground can be tracked very proficiently, there is no need to be flying any lower or slower. The EO and SAR sensors on these UAVs are very very powerful and will build a detailed picture if employed.

. . .
Spot on!
Their arrows serve as spears too.

are those metal arrows?? what metal do you think?? and how is it known that they are living there for 60,000 years??

i am quite interested in knowing their philosophy but that would come only by outsiders visiting.

Its our duty to protect 'em.

absolutely.

that reminds me, are at least infrared satellite images of that island??

they are Indians same as you,me,@jamahir and @mujhaidind :D

thank you for the swaagat satkaar.
