What's new

Hardees's new ads in Pakistan

Have a sense of humor about it, it's not an actual ***
But what message are they trying to spread:Their buns taste like azz? Why draw an analogy, even with funny undertone which doesn't carry a point across.

What do you have against buns? I've no idea what you're inferring here molvi.

This AD will be changed eventually (I hope sooner); Hardees management will be getting a large percentage of -ve feedback from the general public (excluding ultra liberals and their derivatives). I am just surprised as how this AD came about to look like this as I know the whole marketing/advertising campaign process have stages for inputs representative of consumers/ target audience and local environment in between so either the inputs are not taken or are purposely neglected.

Do you approve females modeling for car oil change ads?

Well, they might have conducted it but among prospective customers, those who had deep enough pockets to buy Hardees and a majority of them would have not mind the suggestive ad, for either they found nothing wrong about it or did not want to give the impression that they are in any way unenlightened people. Talking about moral and cultural values let alone religious is no longer desirable among most upper middle class Pakistanis. There is another possibility that Hardee's did it on purpose just to provoke the sentiments and grab more publicity (hence this thread).

The above coupled elegantly sums up female objectification in the so-called brand campaigning.

Agree, it is so sad that we have equated enlightenment to "leaving our cultural and religious values" moreover giving them a very convenient name tag of "Farsooda Thinking" used sparingly by certain fringe groups in our society. To me personally, enlightenment bears a different concept altogether...you can to an extent equate it to be "Spiritual Enlightenment" or more specifically it is the journey of becoming that fard-e-wahid who is termed as "banda-e-momin" by Sir Allama Iqbal (R.A).

I will be honest, i never support female modelling in any form. Besides its all abt women objectification. What do the ad makers do, how they make them dress up? And few women doing such roles and jobs has given majority of men a free pass to objectify female gender on a whole, and that reflects in discussions even on this forum and the current one happening in whatever thread.

anyways, i think oil change ad is fine if its done to show that women could also do this job, change tyres, fix minor issues with car, as its normally considered a man's job, but there are occassions when one has to do on her own...so its ok. But we very well know the ad is not going to be abt oil change only when a female model is used....! They will use all the trade tricks to earn maximun audience.

I recall i had written in muslim athlete thread, that i never understand whats the point in showing scantily claded women rolling over car bonnets in car ads....someone still had counters to that.
Women hugging refrigerators in fridge ads, sticking out tongues while falling over some home appliance or electronic hardware in some other ad......??? Like seriously?

I understand this. Funny thing is, all those who justify women objectification are men. Now hopefully someone among those will not create a fake female account just to prove me wrong.

LOLZZZ. When ppl have moral values sitting that low in ditches , then making fake accounts and defending isnt a huge deal. Ironically, they are the same ones who will speak most abt women empowerment and will be leading the pack in objectifying.

Too much of indian perverts here now and some pakistanis as well. And even more funny is that whenever i criticize that, a particular indian socialist perevrt goes around calling me hateful. But honestly when abusers/harassers like ranjeet are allowed back on site, idont have much to say.

Phir jin kay paas yeh shohrat atee hai, weirdly enough they are the most depressed ppl, drug addict junkies...and we know finally suicide.

So when is the first Hardees being burnt down, or at least stoned?
I dont mind being the first one pelting stone at it.
There's nothing sexual about it, well like a member above said it depends on how people perceive it. I find them quite humorous
If nothing suggestive abt it then why u started a thread on it...asking u for the sake of argument.
If its all hunky dory then whats the point of the thread? U saw the ad u were fine with it, okay move on ,why stop by create a thread, hear the arguments then pompously say, 'i see nothing wrong with it'??
Then obviously something is seriously wrong with you that u are interpreting things a certain way and expecting others to comment on it too, whilst pretending that nothing wrong could be percieved out of the ad.

Oh and what if after seeing such suggestive ads, some already frustrated soul who percieves it in a manner which is intended by the ad makers, goes out and molests/rapes a kid cuz they are easiest of the targets then...... who from the liberal brigade and arm chair critics here is going to save him?

The concepts of modesty taught by religion were always for the greater good; greater good of the society, ur own and ur family's protection.

Oh and yes i am a nobody and i am cool with it, and if someone has a gall to reject arguments then refute them logically rather than calling them weak and running away. Meh!

Using women in add is objectification not allowed and adds of deodorants and other things are taking it to next level. They only show women as free products with some other product for example buy a deodorant get three women free and stuff like that.

I never understood how a model in underwear is relevant to car ads...Seriously how much more stupid can the world get to "pretend" their way thru that it is innocent humour or creative for an add....

Why women and the sad thing is many find it "ok", "funny"

Just a simple question....An tom dick harry sees it and your sister passes by or a relative and they raise an eyebrow...IF you explode than you are being biased and hypocritical....

The min I put your sis in the equation all the humour doesnt stand now does it?
You are seriously underestimating the people you are addressing to. They wont mind even if it was their sister in the ad.

There is beautiful couplet by Allama Iqbal:

Well, I am not totally against it so far the models are decently covered as per norms of Pakistani culture.
