Happy Independence Day - Southern Sudan

Brother won't quote anyother thing only will want to ask if all must follow your advice then same logic should apply for Kashmir aswell which is predominantly Muslim, then why still India has occupied it since 1947. Can you answer realistically without going defensive/ just for the sake of an argument.

Thanks

brother there is difference here in case of sudan the entire population of the country supported the separation but in case of kashmir no one other than the kashmiris support independence. no indian from any other state would allow that. i know it should be kashmiris decision but then again the time for that to happen is long gone.

India has 'occupied' Kashmir because India doesn't believe in the two nation theory and India believes that Hindus and Muslims can stay together under one roof.

Sudan just lost 75% of its oil and 80% of its forests.

No longer will the history and geography books will say that Sudan is the biggest Arab state. We all know why the west divided it don't we?
Sudan was only selling oil to China and eastern countries and not letting western countries some piece of the pie so they divided Sudan so they can take more Oil.

Being an a$$hole is not a good long term strategy for business. The examples are plenty.

Best of luck to the new nation of Southern Sudan

South Sudan.. Welcome to the new world.

Despite the sadness experienced by some people here, there has been too much terrorism & civil war going on, & the South & the North have been embroiled against each other for a long time.

I must say, this is the first independent country I've seen in my life, I was not alive to see Bangladesh get independence, or Pakistan-India (I didn't care as a kid when Eritrea or Namibia got independence). But I can only imagine how emotional it must have been, for those who were alive during the time & experienced it first hand.

However, even if South Sudan gets 'propped up' by international agencies & foreign countries, I don't think South Sudan & Sudan can ever have amicable relations again. I also have a feeling that Libya could be the next country split into two. And then, that could spread all over the globe. Sudan was not strong enough to resist the split, let's see how strong countries like Afghanistan & others are to resist the potential split that can be encountered in the future. I feel like nations such as China, India, Pakistan are too important to the world, & are strong enough to resist any independence movements in the future.

This is what I mean by saying we lost sudan as the united stated preparing to leave Iraq, Afghanistan and the Gulf. They want closer places where they will keep an eye on those places. Israel and the US will soon suck south sudan dry.

This is the saddest thing I have seen in a long time.

there are many refugees from Sudan came to Australia in last few years. refugees came from southern part always complain that they got most of the oil and natural resources but arabs from north has occupied it and take all the wealth from south to north part of the country. all the development went to upper arab part of the country and people from south could not improve their life from the wealth they have. he also said if you don't believe me than just open google earth and see that south sudan do not have even proper roads.

they are so happy that they got independence.

Well, the AQIM in North Africa (including Sudan), & the Al-Shabaab in Somalia are serious terrorist threats in the region & the world, & now, the West will find a good motive in South Sudan to stay in the region & prolong its stay there. And the same might happen in Arabia with the rise of the AQAP.

Yemen is going to be the next country to split. And Al-Qaeda is going to make a base in the future southern Yemen. And it is going to be Somalia all over again.

I feel like Libya can be the next country to split if Gaddafi refuses to accept defeat to the NATO Forces.

Even the Division of India into India and Pakistan, was deliberately left vague so that there a fights, and being in the UN, they would still be able to manipulate both and they are doing it even now!

How many times has India been divided since India was created in 1947?

I think for a Muslim, it might appear so as you see.

However, the flip side is that the Serbs feel that in an area of Christian majority, the US and other Christian allies have sided with Muslims and have created a whole lot of Muslim States.

It is all a question of location. econmic and strategic interests.

If you notice, wherever the colonialists have gone and then had to leave, they have left problems of ethnic/religious warring.

If you observe the Middle East, which is all Muslim, the British drew arbitrary boundaries to suit their convenience and put their favourites in power. The resultant is that there is continuous infighting and problems.

Kuwait, for instance, is actually a part of Iraq and Saddam was not wrong in invading to make a wrong into a right.

But then, by creating Kuwait, the British ensured that there are areas of conflict.

Even the Division of India into India and Pakistan, was deliberately left vague so that there a fights, and being in the UN, they would still be able to manipulate both and they are doing it even now!

This is what is called realpolitik! ;)

Excellent, excellent post. Very beautifully & aptly put. I agree 100%. I would love to thank this post a 100 times, but there is only one "thank" option here.
