SL played right into chinese hands in this deal
Even the 1.1 billion the the chinese spent was spent on chinese goods and labour and hardly helped the SL economy and in the end china got a port for free
That being said, India did force SL to ensure that the SECURITY of the port was in SL hands and NOT in chinese hands.
Which means any and all ships that enter the port will have to be cleared by SL first. So whatever your "intentions" is, you have been check mated.
Its a win for china, no doubt. And a face palm moment for SL.
And its a warning to the rest of the world about the nature of chinese "investments".
Its the new East India company.
