The Indian company Reliance Defence Limited and the Ukrainian state-owned aircraft manufacturer Antonov signed a memorandum of cooperation with the purpose of placing aircraft of different purposes based on An-148 / An-158 aircraft in the Indian market, the Indian company announced on April 29.

Under the agreement, Reliance and Antonov will jointly bid for the Medium Military Transport Aircraft program of the local aircraft maker Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). In addition to this, the two companies will also collaborate for assembly, manufacture and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of Antonov series of aircraft to address the requirements of the Indian market and also the agreed global markets.

The partnership agreement would provide the benefits of quality and low cost solution for 50-80 seater aircraft through its core competencies.

The An 178, the military transport variant of the passenger planes will be pitched for the MTA replacement.

For the regional 50-80 seater jet, the passenger variant will be pushed.

As i said, the specs are very different.

Doesn't matter thats what they're going to pitch for it replacement. It's up to HAL to.pick who their partners are going to be.
No,everything is decided based on IAF requirements not the other way around.

Don't confuse this tender with MTA, this is preliminary for civilian use and MTA is not.

So what other tender, requirement is there that being mentioned of a medium transport aircraft, that Reliance and Uks want to pitch to HAL?

HAL is done with the NAL project and possibly open to looking at outsourced designs like the AN 158, AN 178? This was supposed to a in-house design.
