The Gulf States and the Middle East are racing to get the latest stealth fighter in the world, specifically the US F-35 fighter. In a private conversation, an industrial security and defense official told AFP on condition of anonymity that "interest in the Arab countries, particularly the Gulf, is increasing in the US F-35s produced by Lockheed Martin, and negotiations with some of these countries have reached advanced stages."
The F-35 fighter is the world's most expensive fighter, with a price of more than $ 100 million, but after pressure from US President Donald Trump, who thought the price was too high, the manufacturer has gradually reduced to $ 80 million, according to what the Arab security and defense learned.
Press reports have revealed that the US president may allow the United Arab Emirates to acquire an F-35 fighter.
On 14 November 2017, a report by the Director of the Arab Security and Defense Magazine, Riyad Kahwaji, reported that negotiations between the United States and the United Arab Emirates had entered the final stages of agreeing on a deal to supply the UAE Air Force with F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. To be the first Arab country to get this model, which has the advantage of stealth and semi-vertical take-off on short runways. According to the report, the talks were limited to some sensitive systems in the plane only, which require permits to export abroad.
The Kingdom of Bahrain is also very interested in acquiring the American stealth fighter. The Arab security and defense learned from an informed industrial source that the ongoing negotiations between Bahrain and the US administration and Lockheed Martin are very advanced but that the US administration is hesitant because of its historic ally's reservation on the deal and the first country this fighter was supplied to in the Middle East, Israel.
Saudi Arabia is also seeking to acquire this multi-tasked fighter from Lockheed Martin.
But what distinguishes the F-35 stealth fighter to harvest much of the world's aerial forces?
The F-35 Lightning II is a multi-role fighter with three versions: the F-35A, the F-35B and the F-35C, a stealth aircraft that can not be traced and has 360 degrees view of its surroundings. It is equipped with advanced radar and targeting systems that allow the identification of air and ground targets and engagement with them. They are equipped with secure data systems that allow the transmission of information across an integrated network by air, land and sea.
The six unique characteristics of the fighter:
1. The ability to fly incognito:
It is an invisible fighter, and can not be tracked or detected. The stealth technique in this fighter gives the pilot unparalleled capabilities, especially as the 4th generation fighter can be easily detected by enemy radars. The stealth fighter is a fighter that can penetrate tracking radar and sensors. The F-35 fighter, internal fuel and weapon payload, mission sensor systems, and advanced ghosting paint play a key role in maintaining the "stealth" status of the F-35 fighter.
2. Communicate over secure networks:
We also maintain a network connection all the time, in our time, as well as an F-35 fighter. This fighter is equipped with a complex task system suite, allowing seamless communication across the fleet in any battle. The integrated sensor systems combine information from multi-sensor systems on board the fighter to create a unified picture of the battlefield. The information is automatically transmitted through secure communication channels with other pilots and command and control centers, helping fighter pilots and allied forces.
3. Operating via laser:
The fighter's electro-optical targeting system provides pilots with air-to-air and air-to-ground capabilities during combat. The system allows air crews to identify important areas, and to use laser systems and precision guided weapons.
4. Air superiority:
In the next five decades, a fleet of 3,000 F-35 fighters will fly in the world. It has been contracted by 12 countries in the world. Here comes the role of ALIS.
ALIS acts as a NIR in F-35 fighter jets, providing it with a platform for transforming vast amounts of information into effective information.
5. Virtual reality:
F-35 fighter helmet is a sophisticated helmet for virtual reality. Through Distributed Aperture System (DAS), high-resolution images are taken through the six-megawatt cameras distributed directly to the pilot.
6. Three tasks, one fighter:
To secure the needs of its customers, Lockheed Martin has designed 3 versions of the F-35, F-35A, F-35B and F-35C, while the three versions are stealth supersonic equipped with the most advanced avionics systems. The F-35A is designed to launch from traditional runways and to carry out air-to-air and air-to-ground combat missions. The F-35B is characterized by short take-off and vertical landing and designed to perform tasks in the most difficult conditions and launch from aircraft carriers. The F-35C is a US Navy stealth fighter, designed and built to perform missions exclusively from aircraft carriers.
