We had an agreement with the US and it doesn't include something like " F-35 buyers can't buy S-400 ". We ordered 100+ fighter. Us tried to use it as leverage if Turkey acts against their benefits. Turkey won't accept this as an independent country. Either they will give us our jets or our invested money on F35s. Simple as that. And they will not give them so we will take our money back.

Lot's of things happened and changed till the F35 program started. Now it's clearer that the US will always use it as a card, which is unacceptable. I can't imagine a better way to get out of this.

So far, approximately 1.3 billion dollars of direct investment has been made in the project.

Other costs of supplier participation , technological capability spendings and the money spent on F-35 and F135 maintenance infrastructure are more than that. However, these investments are a gain for the country's aerospace industry infrastructure.

They need to invest in armed forces/Navy. Don't see their need for the F35. It would make sense for Egypt only. But, the US doesn't plan to sell them to Egypt, so they went with the French fighter.

Yesterday the American Congress voted overhelmingly to suspend any sale of military equipment to the Saudis and Emirates for the SECOND time. Trump vetoed it for the second time.

For any F-35 sale you need the okay of the Congress. I'm sure the same Congress that hates the Saudis and UAE with a passion and will sanction both countries in two years when a new administration takes its place in the White House will okay the sale of F-35s to two countries that have no support on the House nor the Senate.

The only reason why Trump vetoed these measure is because both the Saudis and UAE have bribed him and are still bribing him.
