Govt Crackdown on the Islamabad protesters | Updates & Discussions

Politically speaking this all happened because dud politicians couldn't sort out their differences mutually, lets not blame army for this political vacuum. Things would have turned upside down by now had army wanted to take out Sharifs, government is allowed to do all this is the evidences in itself that army is not behind the intrigue if there is one. No one but IK and TUQ themselves are responsible for the failure of their respective dharanas on moral grounds, government otherwise was ready to give everything except resignations.
Army would not let Nawaz & Co. to become a political martyr this time. They have learnt something from the last time. I will not put all the blame on IK and TAQ for the failure of negotiation but Government too. Problem is nobody (even Army) is willing to trust Nawaz and for obvious reasons. It is this lack of trustworthiness of Nawaz that has resulted in the failure of negotiations.

Maybe you have not seen any of the Gaza protests... :pop:

As for dandas...not all the protesters today had danda....that was wrong but is also not the post I am answering....

The question was
like another poster said you need prior permission from enforcement authorities and they tell you where and when you can protest, you cannot leave that area, you cannot expand that area. that is not what is happening in the Pakistan. They are completely different scenarios and should not be compared with one another

7 hours gone....still mostly awami workers fighting with police...the awami workers did not go inside parliament house, and stopped when Army requested them...

Yet some here were giving the example of 10 downing street and white house  claiming no one can protest there...

230 protesters wounded in Pakistan

Published: 9:32 am, Sunday, 31 August 2014

At least 230 people have been wounded in clashes between police and protesters in Pakistan's capital Islamabad.

Wasim Khawaja, spokesman for the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences hospital in Islamabad, told AFP that 164 injured people have been taken to his hospital, while the Poly Clinic hospital said it had received 70 wounded so far.

The protesters had been camped outside parliament house since August 15 demanding Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif quit, claiming the election which swept him to power last year was rigged. The violence, which began late on Saturday, started after around 25,000 people marched from parliament to the prime minister's house and attempted to remove barricades around it with cranes, an AFP reporter at the scene said.

Police responded with tear gas and rubber bullets. The injured were rushed to Islamabad's two main hospitals, and the number of casualties is expected to rise as clashes continue. 'Condition of two of them was critical. There were more than 20 policemen among the injured,' Khawaja added.
