AJK does not have an independent govt. They are subservient to Pak army. It is a crime there to say anything against Pak interests or even protest for independence. They cannot have their own place in UN, issue currency or hold a passport. All features of a independent govt are not there. You can say they have an independent govt like those of states in India. I agree to that.

In last 8 months I have been there twice, I have seen nothing .. There was no Army on the streets , people are living normal life , There are hundreds of people i met from AJ&K and none of them ever mentioned what you are tell me , I have personally see few banners of Independent Kashmir in Outskirts of Muzaffarabad , and my wife denied entry because she doesn't have the tourist visa , and my Cousin is an Active Duty Birg .. Army is there to protect its borders from India , People are very Pro Pakistan, and of course some sell outs you can find there too .

Kashmiri's are the confused bunch, they don't know what exactly they want .. Most of them want to be with Pakistan but among them majority of them don't want to do anything to get Independence , some of them are pro India who often joins in J&K govt , it will be tricky to see their reaction when they come out of the cages, and than there are those who wants Independent Kashmir .

They have to make up their mind and do it quick, cause in next 6 months people and International media will forget about Kashmir altogether , and India will slowly integrate it within its Union .



There is no such thing as Azad Kashmir , or Pakistan Occupied Kashmir , AJ&K has a independent Govt ...

Trust me...in 2016 when burhan was killed, thousands of people come to the street in spite of presence of same number of troops in valley..You should ask an honest question to yourself? Why Kashmiri is not revolting in spite of 90 days of removal of 370.
If thousands of people rock the street in 2016 then why not now?
I am not saying that they are happy with India...But it might happen that your expectations of Kashmir valley will errupt in protest is little bit too much to expect from them...

That is something Kashmiri's should answer, maybe they are scared for mass genocide , maybe they are not into armed struggle , maybe they are not serious about independence , maybe they just don't want to die , maybe they are looking for a leader etc .

Which is why they supported India before 1947 as Pakistan was going to become feudal Islamic country vs secular progressive Bharat. Too bad only now they have realised huge insecurities that Indian hindus hold in general vs muslims.

They will resist in their own way what ever that is.

I agree that we have expectations but as a democratic country,you should give them chance to decide but again India adopted same line that Kashmir is indian part and sometime call it bilateral.doing things by force is not a good option.
