Germany to Pakistan: Terror for political goals unacceptable

In a stern message to Pakistan, Germany on Saturday made it clear that terrorism is not a means to solve political problems and this is "unacceptable". The concerns over terrorism figured during wide-ranging talks Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had with German Chancellor Angela Merkel. "It has been made clear to Pakistan that terrorism is not a means to an end to solve political problems. It is unacceptable," Merkel said at a joint press interaction with Singh.

The Prime Minister said that both sides discussed the possibility of entering into bilateral cooperation in civil nuclear energy.

If this crystalises, Germany will follow the US, France and some other countries for civil nuclear cooperation with India.

Singh said India deeply valued Germany's consistent support in the 46-member Nuclear Suppliers Group for the opening of international commerce for New Delhi in the field of civil nuclear energy.

Both the leaders said that India and Germany will work hard together to advance UN Security Council reforms for expansion of both permanent and non-permanent seats.

Both India and Germany will assume non-permanent seats in the Security Council from January 1, 2011 for a two-year period.

The two sides agreed to enhance bilateral trade from the present level of 13 billion euro to 20 billion euros by 2012.

On his part Singh said relaxation of German export control laws will bring in a new horizon for expanding bilateral trade.

The Prime Minister said there are no bilateral irritants in the excellent Indo-German relations and "we believe sky is the limit for their cooperation".

Singh said he has invited Merkel to visit India next year.

He said India will play its part in arriving at a pragmatic and balanced solution within the framework of the UN Framework Convention for Climate Change.

"The world must continue to build upon the progress that has been made at the Cancun conference", Singh said.

Merkel said Indian Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh has made an "important contribution" at the Cancun conference.

Singh flew to Brussels after attending the India-European Union summit for a working visit to Germany at the invitation of Merkel.

Germany is India's largest trading partner in the 27-nation European Union with bilateral trade growing in the recent years to reach 13.4 billion Euros in 2008.

Bilateral trade decreased marginally to 13.09 billion Euro but has revived and is growing by over 15% and has reached 9.80 billion Euro during January-August 2010.

Ahead of the talks, Prime Minister Singh said India's engagement with Germany is strong and multi-faceted.

^^Yes your own head of state is on the record stating that your government have supported/turned a blind eye to terrorist organisations in the past, to achieve political ends.

What is to say, that this policy has changed?

Duh! ("Freedom" fighters are sometimes viewed as terrorists by the people who are being killed.....)

Yesterday an indian minister said tht Pakistan was not involved in recent peaceful protests against illegal indian occupation....... and during those protests more then 120 people were killed by indian forces!

More then more or less then 100,000 Kashmiris have been murdered or missing since 1947....... mass graves have been found! mass rape of more then 10,000 kashmir women has been reported.... aswell as serious human right violation have been recorded by Human rights commision and other Human right activists and agencies!

If u want to pretend u see nothing thts ur choice.

If that's all true then it should be taken to the UN and rubbed thoroughly in the face of India for the world to see. If Pakistan can prove such things are happening in Kashmir then it should be publicizing the pictures and the stories relentlessly on any world media outlet it can get to listen. BUT, that does not justify the use of irregular jihadi terrorist forces by Pakistan in retaliation. IMHO.

The Taliban were hardly considered a terrorist organisation before 9/11. His comment was referring to Afghanistan not Kashmiri groups. The support for the Taliban was dropped after 9/11 since THEY were hiding another terrorist group Pakistan had nothing to do with, Al Qaeda.

What is to say, that this policy has changed?

No, he(Musharaff) was not talking about Taliban(which have not been declared a terrorist organisation as of yet).and neither is Angela Merkel.

They are referring to 6 other terrorist organisations, which operate out of Pakistan, namely

Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami
Lashkar-e-Taiba
Jaish-e-Mohammed
Harkat-ul-Mujahideen
Al-Badr
Jamat-ud- Dawa

Sir dont you think one of the main ingredients of Multiculturalism is 'Seculraism' which Pakistanis think is not a possible situation.

She is just saying what you believe in ,Its just that Pakistan does not face an multi religous and multi culture immgrant problem looking for a better lifestyle.
