What's new

General Bajwa asked US Deputy Secretary of State for 1.2 billion dollars from IMF

The only army chief I know who's on a begging tour --
What a pathetic state of affairs and for him to be doing this is out of character as well, kami lok do kami things.
This is what happens when courts and civil administration collapses , with a qom that likes to import even match boxes but is too lazy to make it locally. That doesn't pay tax and reaps off all the profits and last but not the least is corrupt to the core , supports a political party that benefits its crony lot .

Is he asking for loan or pure donation?
IMF is going on a 3 week summer recess in August. General Bajwa wants US to reassure IMF that Pakistan will not break it's promises to IMF like last time (Imran's fuel subsidy). The hope is that IMF will give board approval for loan before the recess - thanks to American influence. :pop:

:disagree:
That subsidy was only 50 billion Rs and budgeted.
Your beloved imported govt took that subsidy to 200 billion Rs which came not from the budget but from money printing (budget deficit). Stop blaming your own mess on PTI. If subsidy was such a problem, imported govt should have stopped it immediately after coming in power instead of waiting months and continue causing loss to the treasury

Talk to IMF about who is to blame. :disagree:

IMF program was never suspended. It was stalled though since ex PM Imran Khan's visit to Russia. Last tranche came in February, two months before his ouster

After that Imran asked SBP to print money (as you have admitted) in violation of IMF diktat. Don't try to convince me that Imran has not violated IMF agreement. You should instead talk to IMF, because it was their accusation.

O believers! Take neither Jews nor Christians as guardians—they are guardians of each other.1 Whoever does so will be counted as one of them. Surely Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people. Al-Mai'dah 5:51

You see those with sickness in their hearts racing for their guardianship, saying ˹in justification˺, “We fear a turn of fortune will strike us.” But perhaps Allah will bring about ˹your˺ victory or another favour by His command, and they will regret what they have hidden in their hearts. Al-Mai'dah 5:52

If fuel subsidy was the sole reason why IMF program stalled then imported govt of yours has removed all subsidy long time ago. Why IMF is still not continuing with the stalled program despite staff level agreement has been reached?

PDM removed that subsidy 2 months after getting into government

.. because of the violation of trust. While the subsidy was in place, it cost $600 million a month. IMF was not prepared to fund Imran's desperate and futile attempts to stay in power.

Now as it turns out, General Bajwa is trying to reassure IMF that such violation of agreement will not happen again.
