Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday claimed he has personal knowledge of then-spymaster General Asim Munir showing Imran Khan proof of his wife’s corruption in 2019, an act that eventually resulted in his dismissal as chief of the country’s premier intelligence agency.

The claim was first made by British newspaper The Telegraph on Sunday in a report claiming that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Asim Munir, who was then serving as Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), brought to then-Prime Minister Imran Khan’s attention the allegations of corruption against his wife, Bushra Khan in 2019.

“Gen Munir is reported to have informed Mr Khan he wanted to investigate allegations of corruption around his wife and her circle. Then, in June 2019, he was removed from his post only eight months into what was meant to be a three-year term,” The Telegraph claimed in its report.

The PTI chairman, however, rubbished the report, saying the claims were “completely false”.

“The article claims that I had made Gen Asim resign as DG ISI because he had shown me my wife Bushra begums corruption cases. This is completely false. Neither did Gen Asim show me any proofs of my wife's corruption nor did I make him resign because of that,” Imran Khan tweeted on Sunday evening.

But, speaking on the floor of the National Assembly on Monday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif accused the PTI chief of lying to the nation again, claiming he has personal knowledge of the incident actually taking place.

Shehbaz alleged that then-premier Imran Khan removed General Asim Munir from his position as DG ISI after he unveiled the corruption allegations against his wife Bushra Khan.

PM Shehbaz said Gen Asim had identified instances of corruption by Bushra Bibi, but his disclosures were not well-received by the PTI chief, leading to his dismissal from the role.

The prime minister went on to discuss the ongoing Al Qadir Trust corruption case involving Rs 60 billion, for which Imran was issued a warrant by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). The prime minister denied having prior knowledge of the warrant, asserting that the money rightfully belonged to the national treasury.

Addressing the National Assembly, Shehbaz also praised the unified decision by the House to pass a resolution on the tragic incidents of May 9 that took place following Imran Khan’s arrest.

Earlier today, the National Assembly passed by a majority vote a resolution condemning the distressing incidents that unfolded on May 9, signifying the Assembly's stance on the matter.

The resolution underscored the need for all May 9 cases to be conducted in accordance with existing laws, calling for action to be taken against the elements involved in the acts of vandalism, as well as their aides and helpers. The resolution demanded that these individuals be dealt with under the provisions of the Pakistan Army Act, the Anti-Terrorism Act, and the Combined Penal Code.

On Sunday, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb dismissed Imran Khan's rebuttal of The Telegraph report, calling the PTI chairman a "liar" and challenging him to reveal the real reason behind General Asim's removal if it wasn't due to allegations of his wife's corruption.

Bhai it's quite simple. If there really is sufficient proof, leak it to the press like they leak his calls with everyone.

The same man who was once a powerless poor old DG ISI is now the strongest man in the country. Why does he not present that evidence to NAB, FIA and the courts?

Problem with Patwaris is their conspiracy theories have no leg to stand on.

ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan has dodged a million-dollar question and for obvious reason. This was neither an ordinary question nor was it music to his ears. In the past, when his eyes and ears brought this matter to the attention of Khan, the prime minister, it led to the removal of a top gun.

As Khan went to Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Thursday, he found Azaz Syed of Geo TV waiting for him. Referring to a property tycoon, Azaz asked Khan if it was true that the tycoon gifted a diamond set to his wife. This was the second time he shot this question; earlier, Azaz asked this during his last appearance before ATC.
Visibly unprepared, Khan didn’t answer in the beginning. When Azaz pressed further, the former PM said: “Diamonds are a cheap commodity. Talk about something expensive.” He neither denied nor confirmed the veracity of allegations. However, there is a story behind this question which is three-year-old.
In June 2019, a spy chief presented a dossier to Khan, the prime minister. This was about Bushra Bibi and Farah Khan. The intelligence chief shared details which were substantiated with evidence. He said that a tycoon had gifted a diamond set to the first lady. Another information was about the involvement of Farah in different dealings with tycoons and other influential people. Such activities, the spy chief said, would bring bad name to the prime minister who crafted his image as a clean man.
Instead of appreciating this, Khan went ballistic. He considered this interference into his family matters. Not only Bushra Bibi, Khan said that Farah was also like his family and spying on their activities wasn’t acceptable for him. What he did next was unimaginable for the spy chief. Khan called his boss and ordered his immediate removal. Boss of the spy chief didn’t like the idea, nevertheless he obeyed Khan’s order.
Incidentally, a dossier about Usman Buzdar, was also shared on another occasion. Although Khan didn’t react like he did in the case of Bushra, he opted to remain quiet. This is in contrast with Khan’s preaching of zero tolerance towards corruption. On numerous occasions, he blamed the establishment for being soft on the alleged corruption of Sharif family and Asif Zardari. At one point, he said that
the establishment would show him evidence against his political rivals but was at peace with them which meant that corruption was not an issue for the establishment.

First of all corruption is not a department if DG ISI. Why the heck he was not doing his duty properly and was poking his nose here and there?
Secondly there is no proof.
Third probably as now it's proven he is a lap dog of noon league , they were trying to malign imran khan.

.
More questions:

1- If us waqt Gen Asim ko itna bhoot chara tha for corruption and all, to now he is the COAS. Why not go after it now? Ab woh suboot kdhr hain?

2- Imran Khan ki biwi ki corruption par masla tha, to why not give the same dossiers to Shahbaz Sharif and the rest of the lot currently in power? Maha corrupt ko to London bhagwa dia hai, bulao na usay wapis.

No one believes PDM lot. We all know their sins. No Pakistani has given Pakistan much glory, honour and respect standing in the world as much Imran Khan has

He is appearing in NAB tomorrow in one of the cases, might get arrested!

Yaar they were talking about it all year and I was posting threads on absconder Farah Gogi (her accomplice) all year.

Not what I asked.

The Al-Qadir case is different from what was alleged about the COAS.

That cannot be a one-way street. The reason DG-ISI got roped into the whole "corruption" drama is because they were asked to become part of the team investigating Sharif clan's corruption and dig up proof. So you cannot just use ISI to go after your political adversaries only. Once you bring them in, they will see dirt on everyone possibly and this is why the situation on hand now.
