GDP 1987-2017 Saudi Arabia vs Iran

Well obviously sanctions are an important reason of it, but what makes the matter worse is that our Mullahs are ultra conservative isolationists themselves, They think sanctions not only don't harm our economy, but provide us the opportunity to be self-sufficient. The best example of it is our last presidential election in which Ebrahim Raisi, one of the major candidates, saw economic sanctions as an opportunity, Luckily he lost the election.

Do Mullahs believe in socialism? What a disaster that was all around the world.

Iran failed to take advantage of huge oil reserves. In few decades world dependence on oil will be all time low. Bad times ahead of for Iran who couldn't uplift it self from 3rd world status unlike GCC countries.

Iran should have backed down to remove sanctions in 80's.

Oil prices are going to fall sharply as withing next few years, huge options of Oils are emerging. Automobile shall totally be on electric and other alternates. UAE very wisely develop their country in other area so that they may survive in low oil price demand scenario. Iran must try to encash its oil withing next few years and invest it alternatively to enable to survive in case of low oil demand and low oil price in next decade.

.
What's the point when your people still struggle to meet their basic needs despite Iran having the world 3rd largest oil and gas reserves? If any other decent country was this blessed with natural resources they would be having the world highest standards of living rivalling gulf states and even western countries. Their leaders and their policies are to blame. The Saudis and gulf states citizens live a far better life than Iranians or any other muslim country for that matter. So this cheap talk of "they believe in hard work unlike the Saudis" is simply laughable. Lol

Well at least they had the balls to resist USA 's Interference dint they .. wen saudis were living in their la la land with americano puppets :P Think about it. :D.. Now you dont believe in hard work. One word china = hard work .. look were they are now. Asian age . think about it :P..

That's just another cheap propaganda some leaders use to divert their people's attention from their ineffective rule, incompetence , corruption, nepotism, favouritism and legitimise their regime. What does "having the balls" to stand up to the West have to do with improving your people's living standards? Lol You think the common man suffering on the street cares about those nonsense/bullshits? Lol

Even Venezuela and North Korea also claim the same thing, even though their people don't even have(can't afford) common toilette rolls to clean their *** while in the other country the people are dying of hunger/famine or at massacred if they are caught fleeing abroad to the "evil West" or towards neighbouring countries for a better life. So much for having "balls" :disagree: Almost all of these backward poor countries have moved backwards economically while the rest of the world has moved ahead, while they keep claiming to standing up to the West with their "big balls".lol

These are the types of governments I despise the most, since they could care less about their people's suffering/livelihood, but more about keeping their power, ideology and legitimising their regime using "external threats" as an excuse. Lol

LOL If you say so. :D
But remember even the Chinese abandoned the failed soviet socialist isolationist policy they had been using and normalised relations/opened up to the West and the world, that's when they started drawing in investments and tapping their real potential that had been confined for so many years, the rest is history. :)

Micky hard work is back :D... brexit :D ring any bells :P Now go back to work or get hundred slashes :D .. make briton great again :D

Why Iran failed miserably to keep up? Sanctions?
This is what happens when u spend petrodollars on terror instead than on ur own people. Check Syria now,

ClT0hCzWEAAx4Uc.jpg

all these gangs are financed by Iran.

.
KSA had an oil boom, while sanctions against Iran slowed it's growth. Otherwise, both would have a similar GDP.
At 285 billion 30 years ago Iran would easily be a 1-1.2 trillion $ economy now. They should have kept the shah.

All if them have huge oil and gas reserves. But at least the Saudis leaders have manage to utilise their resources to improve their people's livelihood far better than the Iranians, Period. Any other talk is just irrelevant IMO.

And you have visited iran to know that they can't fulfill there needs? There is more poverty in GCC then what you think. Just because you had a controlled visit or watch controlled media doesn't mean it is true. There are countless documentaries about life of saudia, you can start with "Saudia Arabia Uncovered".

Secondly, just GDP doesn't define the success of a country. It is local industry that define that. Right now there are countless Industrial parks in Iran making everything from a pen to turbine engines. You can see that Iran have positive trade balance hugely benefiting them with minimum foreign debt. You can't say the same for many other countries dominated by chinese market. Now with JCPOA signed one can see foreign investment in Iran, creating more jobs plus livelihood of people increase.

Above can't be said about saudia whose only export is oil and import everything else medication, automobiles, defence material. Though things may look good right now with oil? But what if oil become irrelevant in future then what?

Oil prices are going to stabilize between $60 and $70 by 2018, so they will go up not down.. and just think that the Oil suppliers knowing about the alternative energy potential, will try to maximise their profits till the last moment when these Oil alternatives will become widely available.. maybe and very optimistically in the next 20 years..

No, I haven't visited Iran it's true, but I have been to SOME gulf states(Qatar/UAE,K Kuwait and Bahrain) and their local people do live a very good life , which isn't surprising giving they have among the highest living standards in the entire muslim world, reason they attract so much foreign labourers from south Asia(India,Pakistan,Bengladesh) , Africa, and middle East etc
Dude you don't see people from Qatar, UAE/Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Oman, etc fleeing to the West to seek a better life, doing menial jobs or for asylum like you see people from Iran, Afghanistan,Pakistan, Bengladesh, Iraq, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Lebanon, Egypt, etc.
Iran is one of the country(peaceful one without war) with the Highest number of asylum seekers/immigrants in the West despite having no ongoing war, ask yourself why?

Iranians Top Asylum League as Only Citizens Fleeing Country Not Embroiled in Strife

Thursday, 10 April 2015, published by the UN Refugee Agency (UNCHR) on 21st March, reveals an increase in refugees applying for asylum in 44 industrialized countries, highest amongst them being the United States of America, Germany and Sweden. The report is especially revealing about trends among Iranian asylum seekers, finding that rather than turning to neighbouring countries for refuge, many Iranians are aiming straight for the West and the advanced nations of Asia.

It’s no surprise that Syrian refugees top the list in terms of sheer numbers, as the country’s civil war has forced between 1.5 to 2.5 million people to flee their homes. Afghanistan, Eritrea, Somalia, Iraq and Pakistan, all countries where conflict ruptures people’s daily lives and blunts economic and social opportunities, also head the list as “source countries”.

But what is startling in the UN report is how close the Islamic Republic of Iran comes in at the top, with Iranians accounting for four per cent of asylum seekers in the world. There are other countries, Egypt for example, that also face political strife and an ailing economy, but do not produce refugees in the volume that Iran is producing today. The question the report throws up is this: Why is a country not at war, without overwhelming internal conflict, so high up on the list?

Iranians seek asylum abroad for a variety of reasons, including religious practice, political affiliations and employment that, for one reason or another, leads to confrontation with the government or the country’s religious powers. Among professionals who have had to leave the country are journalists and artists. But increasingly, Iran’s economy continues to pose its own particular threats.

Within Iran, asylum remains a taboo subject. Despite the fact that in recent decades, at least five million Iranians have left the country, it is not widely discussed or reported on television or in print media. While the country’s brain drain does occasionally receive mention, the flight of the country’s ordinary citizens doesn’t seem to register as part of any national debate
With a combined total of 357,100 registered asylum claims in 2013, Germany, the United States of America, France, Sweden and Turkey took in more asylum seekers than other countries, accounting for nearly six out of ten asylum claims submitted in the 44 industrialized countries covered by the UN report. When planning a route out of the country, Iranians have traditionally sought refuge from industrialized countries in the West.

Iran failed to take advantage of it's "huge" oil reserves, but seems like they focused on education, health, industry. Iran is better equipped for post-oil. There are plenty of posts of Iranian accomplishments in other sectors of the economy minus the oil.

The "poor" people that exists in GCC would be considered rich in Iran. A simple fact.

Also don't make me laugh about that useless "documentary" which was already rebuffed ages ago. 100's of Western expats and non-Western expats based in KSA, let alone locals, already made numerous videos on Youtube and elsewhere in the media to disprove the nonsense.

Read post 4 and the hard cold facts posted therein. It's very simple.

KSA has a much better trade balance than Iran. Not even close, lol.

Lastly KSA has 35 industrial cities and dozens are in the process of being built. I don't know any regional country that has that. You don't have a clue about the industrial base in KSA. Everything that Iran "produces" KSA does as well and even more.

Just a small glimpse.

https://defence.pk/pdf/threads/made-in-ksa.475488/page-8

Also don't act like the vast majority of your income does not derive from oil and gas which it does.

Secondly in your country there are over 10 million illiterates. People who cannot read or write their own names. The average GDP per capita (nominal) of your citizens is the same as war-torn Iraq. Your HDI index is nowhere near that of KSA let alone the GCC either.

In short stop making a fool out of yourself. Lastly you have zero "independence" and your Mullah's agreeing to stopping your nuclear program is a clear confirmation of that as is your begging of ending the sanctions. Your country, at any given opportunity, is jumping at buying Western products. Most recently that several billion big deal with Boeing. The GCC has a healthy relationship (political, in terms of trade etc.) with both the Arab and Muslim world (expect for your isolated, sanctioned and Wilyat al-Faqih ruled North Korea of the Middle East), West, East and developing countries in Africa and Latin America. Using your logic you are a puppet of Russia. The same "master" that had/have military bases in your country and uses them and does all the work for you in Syria. So much for your "independence". Aside from the usual photoshop and reverse engineered ancient Soviet era junk and North Korean junk and claiming it as "indigenous".

Meanwhile while I was writing this posts 1000's upon 1000's of your compatriots are pretending to be Syrians and Iraqis in order to seek asylum in the West. Zero from the GCC on the other hand. Yeah, we are the ones that have to look towards Iran as an example. Great joke but typical of PDF.

The point is that this fake resistance gives him an ability to impress uneducated simpletons on forums such as PDF that will buy all the nonsense that his likes are spreading. That's more or less the only thing it does. And maybe another invasion by a foreign country (countries) some time in the near future.

10.000's upon 10.000's of Iranian refugees (political, economic etc.) trying to get into Europe. That's so, so shocking. I even met a few of those likes pretending to be Syrians and Iraqis in Western Europe (train stations). Too bad that Arabs in Europe can disprove their lies. it is very typical for them to pretend to be Christians btw in order to get asylum. This is very famous. Something they share with their Afghan neighbors.

Another "fun" and "curious" fact, why is it that the second largest Iranian diaspora in the world after the one in the US, is found in next door GCC?
