It's not just any old town. It's a crucial town which links Lebanon to Syria. Now Hezbollah can move infantry and weapons much more easily into Syria. Also if the tide turns in favour of FSA, Iran can directly send in units and more advanced weaponry because of our joint defence pact. This isn't even factoring in what Russia may do to save their port to the Mediterranean.
