GCC Eyeing Egypt in Caliphate Drive

getting all Arabs to be on the same page?

sounds ideal...but good luck with that

Gulf is Pretty much on the same page, Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Libya are very close to the gulf , Bashar Assad Fall in Syria the new Syrian government will be closer to the Gulf , Improve Relations with Tunisia, and Algeria. and Rebuilding Iraq

it is written in the article: it is to counter Iran (first sentence of second article)
I don't think Egypt or Egyptians in general have any problems with Iran. I see Egypt and Iran working together in the near future.

I have read them friend. But these are just promises that have no guarantee. Investment is ok, but the whole SA system is sooner or later doonmed to fail. Firstly, as we have discussed before, it is based on kingdom which is islamically wrong. Secondly, your economy is almost still solely based on oil. As long as those mentioned above continues, i don't see a very bright future for your country.

Well, recently, as has been pointed out by Mosamania couple of times, the Saudis have started to industrialize their economy, basically in an effort to slowly wean it off from being an oil based economy.

Funny thing is there is no "Monarch" run media. But then again how would you know?? You only take "Western" and "Iranian" run media into your head.

Funny thing is im not expecting any constructive answer from you, the online police might land you in a jail for speaking out against the kingdom.

All i want from you is to spare Islam from your political thesis. Saudi monarchs have nothing to do with Islam, but they keep injecting you this rubbish to keep you their peaceful subjects.

I don't buy western or iranian media at all. as a matter of fact i dont even own a tv, havn't watched one in years.

I am a student of history and do my own independent research.

I would never trust SA. I think the new leaders of the arab spring would be clever to work closely with Turkey. Turkey has much more experience in the political, scientifical, infrastructurural, industrial and educational domains.

SA is a kingdom. How will a country based on kingdom and whose income is solely dependent on oil help democratic countries who want to improve its industry?
But they can work with both.

Read my past comments you will find the opposite of what you say. I have stated a couple of months ago in detailed fashion all there is to know about Saudi political system. I suggest you dig in my past posts for it.

The GCC - UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia - began actively seeking to expand its membership as the Arab Spring took hold as a means of creating a strategic ballast against Shiite Persian Iran, its primary rival for regional hegemony.

This sentence tells us everything.

A) It is an anti-Iran (and anti-Turkey) coalition to try and gain some semblance of relevance. Both Iran and Turkey are gaining popularity as the only two Muslim countries capable of self-advancement without foreigners holding their hands at every turn.

B) It is a reaction to the Arab Spring so that, the next time one of these dictators is threatened, they can call up fellow dictators' armies (as in Bahrain) and call it an 'internal matter'. As long as these oil sheikdoms are hosting huge America military bases and they keep propping up the dollar, all their moves are suspect.

The only thing the monarchs have successfully industrialized is the Hajj pilgrimage for the Ummah, making it more expensive n difficult for the muslim masses to perform.

State of the art KFC and McDonalds are readily available right outside the haram. What more could you ask for?

Did you really think they are allowing Egypt in to member ship for the sake of Egyptians (house of Saud was furious with Washington for not helping Mubarak so they ended up losing Egypt)get the message so now they are trying a new approach to get Egypt back in again this time with a cookie called membership.

Iran is losing popularity we see turkey as a good model, once Syria falls from within Iran will be completely cut off. I'm all for a Unified Arab World without the Gulf Sheiks.

i would like to see Saudi Arabia and Iran -- 2 influential and important Muslim countries -- join hands and push for reforms in the Muslim worlds....labour reforms, womens rights reforms, education reforms (most important), industrial reforms, etc. and creating an environment where diplomacy and logic take precedence over useless emotions, historical rivalry/baggage and war of words

this will be important for Egypt. . . it's difficult to comment on Saudi monarchy, simply because they do have large support from the people of Saudi Arabia. Thus far there are no popular calls to overthrow/de-throne the monarchy. People would lose their welfare checks and free ''benzeen'' :woot:

Wow, really? Well, i wouldn't know that since i haven't went on Hajj, yet.

Egypt Needs a Boost in our Economy. Actually if you know anything about Egypt Mubarak was a just a Puppet the Military is what holds the True Power. Egypt was the Birthplace of the Unified Arab world Idea. So yes Many people will be in favor of it.

Inshallah.

I hope you are right

Exactly. When even the White House was turning against Mubarak, it was the Saudi Royal Family which offered to pay BILLIONS to keep Mubarak in place.

I am sure the Egyptian masses have not forgotten that.

I can't believe people are buying this 'Muslim unity' crap. You want Muslim unity? How about forming an alliance between Saudi Arabia, Iran and Turkey. That will keep the midnight oil burning in Tel Aviv and Washington for years to come.
