You can hardly experience 1% of Istanbul in three weeks. Sultanahmet is a Friday mosque and is in the historical peninsula. The whole area is a tourist area and almost all working people live in different neighborhoods. Turkish people's habit of praying in congregation is on the decline, as it is in many other parts of the world. I wish our people could strengthen the tradition of praying in congregation for time prayers as well as Friday prayers, this is something I don't like either. We can't even go inside mosques when Friday prayers, we pray in mosque courtyards, but for time prayers, especially in some neighborhoods of Istanbul, the congregation is very small.

Anyway, the fact that you can move from the point that you are all bastards to the point that you don't go to the mosque is progress.

Why do you have to make circuitous arguments instead of calling spade a spade? Gulf States consider Hamas and its tactics as dangerous to the life and property of Gazans and other Arabs, lowers international support and sympathy for the cause of Palestinians and even jacks up Islamophobia. They are just not into this terrorism business after what 9/11 and the next two decades did to their countries, people, wealth and image. They just want to become normal and not some kind of ahem, 'special'.
