Gagan to be Launched Tomorrow India to be 4th Country in the World to have

Beidou is already operational for both civilian and military use.

Free service for civilians (with lower accuracy), and licensed use for Government and Military (with high accuracy).

It's all in the link I provided.

Hmm makes sense. I am not really into all these navigation system, but as far as I get is that GAGAN is a gps system for air traffic and IRNSS is for civilian. Both are the same technologies but with different intended purposes and name.

Beidou navigation system - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The "BeiDou Navigation Satellite System" has already been offering satellite navigation since the year 2000.

Currently we have 13 active satellites in this system, and it has been operational for a long while now.

GAGAN and BeiDou Navigation Satellite System are both different from each other ..

ur wrong GAGAAN and BeiDou Navigation Satellite System are both different from each other ..

Did you read what the OP said?

Here it is:

India to be 4th Country in the World to have Satellite Based Navigation System

Others are US, Japan & EU

How can India be the "4th Country in the World to have Satellite Based Navigation System" if Beidou Satellite Navigation System has been operational and providing navigation services since the year 2000?

Beidou* is different.

Gagan equivalent are -
Wide Area Augmentation System - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (US)
Multi-functional Satellite Augmentation System - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (japan)
European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (EU)

These are Satellite-based augmentation system
China and russia are working on it but not implemented

a satellite navigation system which supports differential GPS (DGPS) designed to supplement the GPS system by reporting (then improving) on the reliability and accuracy of those signals

Nope u n @Chinese Dragon both r wrong, Beidou is a GPS like system whereas GAGAN is a GPS aided augmented navigation system which further improves GPS signals for a particular area n r generally used by Airlines for selecting direct paths with greater accuracy.

@karan21 IRNSS is Indian version of GPS.

GAGAN is not GPS.
Check post no 18 n 20 for futher clarification...

Gagan is satellite based navigation system. not a navigation system itself. It need GPS to work.

Gagan is already operational (partially). Two satellites have been launched, with first one in mid 2011. The news source opener quoted: Press Information Bureau English Releases is from august 2010

Welcome To ISRO :: Search - Result Page

The first GAGAN navigation payload was flown on GSAT-8 which was launched on May 21, 2011 and the second on GSAT-10 launched on 29th September 2012. The Navigation payload on GSAT-10 would provide improved accuracy of GPS signals (of better than 7 meters) to be used by the Airports Authority of India for Civil Aviation requirements.

can this gagan system be used by our missiles like agni 4 and 5 for strikes even if usa or russia does not give their gps or glonass signals during a war??

Gagan is not a GPS constellation , its a regional satellite-based augmentation system (SBAS) which is itself aided by GPS.

Gagan is satellite based navigation system. not a navigation system itself. It need GPS to work.

Correction.
Gagan is Satellite based GPS augmentation.
By 2013 Pakistan will have a similar system.
China will launch a Beidou Augmentation satellite and Pakistan will use it via SUPARCO's ground stations.
