Gadani power project is impracticable, China refuses to invest: sources

could be....im not sure as the report does not mention it !!!!

as far as i know the total population of gadani is about 10,000-15,000 ..... so could be that ...still not sure though :undecided:

Population size need not be the issue here at all. The power could have been sent to the rest of the country trough power lines. The real reason could be technical in nature. Or could be security-related; the Chinese have been jittery about security of their investments in Balochistan.

then why did they choose gwadar for investments ???? the argument for security is debatable and a bit hypothetical

Maybe the rate at which the unit of electricity is bought or produced is termed unpracticable by the chinese?

yes....could be, as there were mentions in political rallies that the power plants being bought in are in fact old and polluting.....may be the Chinese reconsidered their offer

Oh yes, they did choose Gwadar for investment; for a project by China, of China and for China. But even there, the Chinese are moving cautiously; though Gwadar has a substantial Pakistani security force presence.
In the interior of Balochistan, conditions are not the same.

Gadani is on the coastal belt actually more close to Karachi.....you won't see the problems there you might find in interior Balochistan so the reason is not security in this case

Why the population matters here?

The Electricity production goes to National Grid of Pak. Isnt it?

I don't think the lack of interest is limited to the Chinese alone - there have been quite a few articles over the last few months talking about the lack of investor interest in the Gadani project because local infrastructure is essentially nonexistent and the group set up to facilitate investors in the project by the Nawaz Sharif has made little to no progress in even getting beyond the planning stage for building up the infrastructure to allow for the kind of massive industrial development being considered.

can someone please correct me if im wrong.. these projects are a part of international financing rather than FDI, ryt? both are considered capital inflows but one is not the other. If it is international financing then basically this will be government investment.

most are built on public private partnership mode. government acts as a facilitator with some or no investment at all. majority of the money comes from private party pockets. returns on investment and associated risks are what private parties looks at.
