With the ground breaking of much needed hospital on 26 March 20, FWO immediately mobalized all the resources with sheer motivation to construct the Isolation Hospital and Infection Treatment Centre (IHITC). It was a time when on one hand, the world had halted entire import and export under fear of pandemic growth while on the other hand, intra - country lockdown had restricted movement and transportation to the critical extent.

The 250 bedded state of the art hospital having prefabricated steel structure building equipped with all sophisticated allied facilities has been constructed by FWO in just 40 days with sole use of internal resources. The sullen spells of torrential rains during limited construction period added further difficulty for the construction teams but couldn’t affect professionalism and morale of FWO engineers and workers. It is worth mentioning that the entire work was executed ensuring best health safety measures described by the Government as anti COVID-19 SOPs. DG FWO made frequent visits to the site to inspect, guide and motivate FWO teams working round the clock for this national cause.

To monitor live performance, FWO installed live monitoring cameras to monitor the work site.
We acknowledge the efforts and pay special gratitude to all our under mentioned partners including consultants and contractors who stood by us and worked round-the-clock with FWO to accomplish this gigantic project within stipulated time.

Jagran river is a tributary of Neelum River, which confluences with it at Kundal Shahi in AJ&K. A number of hydropower schemes have been identified on Jagran River out of which JHPP-1 (30.4 MW) is operational and JHPP-2 (48 MW) is under construction by FWO-HMC-CNTIC-BITC JV.

The project is being financed by Power Development Organization AJ&K. FWO is undertaking civil works of the project which includes Weir structure, De-sander, 5Km tunnels, Surge Tank, Vertical Shafts and a Power house. Presently work is in full swing on all components of the project simultaneously & 1.85 km tunnel works have been completed.
On 22nd March 2020 an important landmark activity has been achieved by diverting Jagran River into 190 m long diversion channel which was created by cutting into rock and boulders. The construction activities for Weir stage-1 will now be started.

Lakpass Tunnel project was completed by FWO in two just years duration back in November 2008. This route connects Quetta with Southern Balochistan, Gawadar, Karachi and also with Iran through N-40.

FWO has been entrusted the responsibility of O&M of Lakpass Tunnel / Toll Plaza and keep it open for public throughout the year. Before construction of Lakpass Tunnel, old road was being used having a very steep gradient which was very difficult specially for loaded vehicles.

For providing road with good riding quality, FWO is relaying ACWC overlay on approaching roads of Lakpass Tunnel on fast track. Currently work is in full swing and will be completed by end of July 2020.

FWO is working on widening & improvement of Jaglot Skardu Road project (JSR). Length of road is 160 km. The widened & improved road will play a significant role to bring economic development & social benefits to residents of Skardu on its completion. JSR will be of vital importance in providing access to tourism sites and easy access to health facilities. Despite being landslide prone area, unfriendly weather, and harsh environment, FWO is performing up to the expectations.

*Karachi Drains Clearance Operation 2020 - Kausar Colony Culvert*

It was reported to us that floating garbage (due to ongoing rain spell) had accumulated on upstream side of the culvert at Kausar Colony yesterday evening.
This happened due to smaller sized passages under the culvert and encroachments on the drain itself.
Although water was still passing through it yet FWO team went to work and cleared it today.

After completion, it will be the world’s highest and largest roller compacted concrete (RCC) dam project, known as Pakistan’s “Three Gorges”.

The 272 meters high Diamer-Bhasha Dam will become another large hydropower project in Pakistan after Tarbela and Mangla hydropower projects, Professor at the Chinese Southwest University of Political Science and Law Cheng Xizhong said

He said on July 23, Asim Saleem Bajwa, Chairman of CPEC Authority, announced that the construction of Diamer-Bhasha Dam, a large hydropower project with historic milestone significance, has started.

Construction of the dam will be jointly undertaken by Power Construction Corporation of China and Frontier Works Organization (FWO) of Pakistan. It is planned to be completed in 2028 with a total installed capacity of 4.5 million kilowatts, which can deliver 18 billion kilowatts of electricity to the state grid every year.
